Premium Members Howard J Smith Posted November 4, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2004 Hi I did 3 months on and off on "Eyes wide shut" - he was very interesting to work with. He was totally focused like I have never seen anyone, and very knowledgeable on all aspects of filming, and loved testing me, we had some really good chats about kit. I used his Mitchell NC camera with his f0.7 50mm lens on my 3a - way too heavy and we rigged it to 2 mountian bikes - I have some photos - it looks crazy. - The camera was not reflex so we had a video camera on there as well with the big old fries motor - I think the whole lot was 128lbs. - I designed my Mk4 for this job. Anyway, I am proud to have had this time with him and I learnt a lot. Interesting Man..... All the best Howard J Smith MK-V

I'd want to see them just to see the Mitchell on a sled, but to see KUBRICK's Mitchell with the famous NASA lens on a rig... Sweet.

Premium Members Howard J Smith Posted November 6, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 6, 2004 Hi Chaps While I get the other pictures scaned - there is this one: http://www.mk-v-revolution.com/howardjsmit...s-mitchell.htm# You can see the Libra 3 in the background - I wanted to use this as it would of been so much easier - but we ended up useing my 3a - nightmare - after the first nights shooting with it, the first AD said " everyone report at 10am for a bollocking" - it didn't really work going up and down curbs and the bikes buckled as well - we also had Howard prestons laser focus system on and another op for that - looked very silly and was a nightmare to balance , got some good shots of the floor and the sky! (We occasionally got the actor in as well). More to follow if you are still interested. All the best Howard
