Steadicam credit in end titles?

I don't know if this has been answered already. I did try a search and found nothing so here it is.

My question is why does there seem to be a lack of credit given to this profession mostly on TV shows but sometimes in feature films also? Is it just assumed the A or B camera op will somewhere sometime take that credit?

I watch a lot of TV, I like to watch the new shows, Castle, Greys and such but the Steadicam ops name does not appear, usually.

Eric Fletcher S.O.C I know works in this market Charles Papert S.O.C also. Can you guys explain this lack of recognition? By the way Charles since I found out you did some of the Buffy episodes I went and looked there as well, no credit. What gives?

Credits are at Producers discretion, but I do have my credit stipulated in my deal memo

Thanks Eric. So it is up to the operator to work that deal out ahead of time, if the producer is willing. I just realized this is not the right forum for this question and I apologize for that. I should've put it in the legal/business section.

I always try to write it into my credits but inevitably all camera's get lumped into one category at least on the live TV gigs thats how it works, since most of the time there's 8-15 cameras.

Sometimes even when you write in your credits clearly during the start paperwork process, they can still get it wrong.

I went recently to the theater to watch a movie that I did a little while ago as Operator/Steadicam, just to find out that they erroneously credited an operator good friend of mine for the whole thing. He took over on the last 2-3 days of shooting, as I had to leave. I did about 6 weeks of shooting and got zero credit...(obviously it's not my friends fault)

Over the years I've been credited every possible way from good to bad. It doesn't seem to follow much reason. Some networks (particularly cable) are pretty good about credits; the broadcast networks are a bit worse and each have their own guidelines. Some shows list Steadicam, others just as operator. I gave up caring about long ago myself but it was certainly irritating before that.

Here in Australia most of the TV networks squeeze the credits into one corner of the screen and show promo's for the following weeks show or what coming up next so here we never really get to see them anymore.In some cases they don't even show them as well .

I have given up.
