Premium Members Sydney Seeber Posted November 3, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 3, 2010 will play on my Macs, will not play in IE for me... That's why I always recommend the Youtube embed option like I mentioned earlier, at least as an alternate option on the front page. I know it sucks to have that Youtube logo on a personal web site, I don't like it either... But they (Youtube)live and breathe to present a video to the world that will play on as many devices as possible. Sometimes I put a text link below the main site video, labeled something along the lines of "For users who can't view this video" or words to that effect. In 15 or so years of embedding video on various web sites, I have never been able to create a one-size-fits-all video that everyone could happily play. 5 years and further back, I used to embed 3 different file links on my sites. The internet browser competition has started to be a little more agreeable since then, but we're not 100% there yet

Premium Members brooksrobinson Posted November 4, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2010 Thanks to all who took the time to help me out...both here and through email and PM's. After hearing so many varied results based on computer and browser, my guy was able to narrow down the problem, and I think he has it solved. Again, thank you all very much for your time and willingness to help out a fellow operator. This would have taken a lot more time to diagnose without your input. Sincerely, Brooks Robinson

Premium Members brooksrobinson Posted November 4, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2010 Tom, I clearly don't understand any of this, but here is the layman's terms explaination I got last night: "I think i discovered the issue. When i sent you these links they were to the direct video files as opposed to the web pages with video files embedded on them. Different browsers treat direct video files differently. IE attempts to download the whole video before playback. It also answers the question as to why my videos load faster.... they are embedded in a webpage." Again, I don't know the steps he went to before this, but it is now working (not the link I provided earlier), and will be added to my website soon, along with a feature reel. I'll try and find out as much as I can and report back once I understand the steps better. Thanks again to all who helped me out.
