Premium Members Frederic Chamberland Posted January 29, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 29, 2004 Hi, I have had my Artemis Cine-Hd for 16 months now and still love it. Look into 2003 forum under "Artemis" . You will find posts on my opinion of the system. Pros and cons. Happy flying! TJ Williams
I tried the one they had at NAB and yes it is much improved from a year ago. It is much more vibration free, and has a wide adjustment range. I especially liked the monitor mount adjustment. Have your tried the Rig arm. The artemis arm works well for heavy cameras, but I don't think adjusts as far the other way, I was also really impressed with all the stainless, water resistant stuff on the Rig. curt o. schaller
At IBC 2005, Sachtler introduced a new member of the Artemis camera stabilizer family. The new artemis DV Pro system is the right tool for the professional operator of today. Obviously this system is the needed follow up of the artemis Cine/HD, Cine, EFP Pro and EFP systems, and the DV Pro offers the same quality of construction and functionality. Premium Members Alf Tramontin Posted November 28, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 28, 2005 I am having trouble with supplying 12v power to video cameras with my Artemis HD Rig. The camera draws more power from a battery on the sled (camera battery) than the same battery connected directly onto the camera. No other battery or equipment is connected to the rig. I wondered if anyone has experienced this. I think it might have something to do with the battery level display. Thanks, regards Alf Tramontin
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted November 29, 2005 Moderators Report Share Posted November 29, 2005 Alf, Chances are you are getting a small bit of voltage drop from the thin cables up your post. Take a Volt meter to the battery and then test it from the cable out of your upper J-box to see. In most cases the drop won't really kill you, but if you have old batteries and a hungry camera you'll notice this sooner as the batteries are already dropping too fast. I have to give kudos to Greg Bubb here because he uses thinker gauge cable up his post and it really has made a difference for this sort of thing. By the way, I saw the latest Harry Potter the other day - nice work.
Premium Members Frederic Chamberland Posted November 29, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 29, 2005 Hi, What Alec said is true, you lose some voltage going thru the post, I also fly a Artemis HD: I had a cable made with bigger gage on the power line. Two solutions: 1- Get a Hytron 120 or a big Propac, that should do the trick. Any "small" battery will cry for hunger. 2- Get a cable made directly from the AB plug on the battery holder to the camera power, 100% juice directly from battery, the drawback is in the camera movements, you now have a cable in the way to do some 360 on the gimbal. Should work alright in most cases. Fly safe.
Premium Members Alf Tramontin Posted November 29, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 29, 2005 Hi Alec, thanks for your advice, I wondered if it was this but strange that it happened so suddenly. I will get the meter out. Regards Alf
