Alex C. White
Alex, Who were the operators? I was barely able to eek out names from my very busy stage manager friend of Cirque, and all I could get was Henry and Eric (hopefully these aren't inaccurate). The crew was very busy and hustling to bust out the last shots of the night so I wasn't able to chat with anyone. The few Steadi shots I saw the op was in low mode and had to gaff the battery cage to the post to dampen the wiggle that was happening. Hopefully the ops are on the boards and can provide some more detail if they're able. It was a real treat to be able to observe a large scale set and watch some serious production happen! Pretty sure Henry Tirl was doing it. He's got some pics on his Facebook page.
Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted November 17, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 17, 2010 Pretty sure Henry Tirl was doing it. He's got some pics on his Facebook page. That was the name on the call sheet given to me a few days ago by some locals on the shoot. But they also said that production has been through a few operators on Steadi already for unknown reasons. Sounds like a great project but a brutal shoot for Steadicam. Robert
Premium Members Kris Torch Wilson Posted November 18, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 18, 2010 Utility guys told me they weighed the rig at over 90 lbs. They also reported that one of the ops tore a calf muscle and another walked away from James Cameron who asked for his business card. Good times.
