Edmond Fetue
Hi there, I'm intending to travel to Brazil from Portugal with my gear. Could you help me on the the basic procedures when travelling with gear? .Customs (should I pay import taxes over there?) .Shipping (is it better to take it with me as my personal luggage or to ship it trough fedex or similar?) .Insurance companies (international coverage, any suggestions?) Thanks. Regards, Edmond.

Getting a local airport representative that works with customs to help you through customs never hurts. All the info needed can be found online regarding Brazils customs laws. Edmond Fetue
I've been informed that Brazil does not work with ATA carnets. I'll have to go for a "temporary exportation" I was told. Thank you guys for the tips! I'll let you know how it went!
Premium Members Pedro Guimaraes SOC Posted December 20, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 20, 2010 (edited) My best advice is to work with your production company it's thier job to figure this all out. Don't bend on this. Why do the producers job? your job is to give them a list of your equipment. In the absence of competent producers or if your on your own......my best advice is to visit the Brazilian consulate and talk to the service desk. They will give you correct information and you will not have any surprises this way. Your production company is required to work with a brasilian production company. They have to file a document with ANCINE (I think) before you can then take that document to the cosulate to complete your paperwork. it can be complicated.....like I said go to the consulate! or tell the producers to figure it out.
