Luc Larson
All- I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. I've been in love with Steadicam shots since first learning of the rig in my first film class. A couple summers ago I got to work on the Nightmare on Elm St. remake and was blown away watching Jacques Jouffret. He was a great inspiration and gladly answered all my questions. Freelance gigs have been going well, so I picked up a Pilot to run my 7D in August. It's been so much fun and I appreciate all the tips and tricks you all have contributed to those starting out. Luc Larson
Just out of curiosity, how was everyone introduced to the Steadicam and when did you get hooked? LL
Premium Members Thomas K. Jensen Posted December 1, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 1, 2010 Hey Luc, and welcome to the forum. In my case, the iinterest in becoming a steadicam operator came back in 1998, when i was an Assistant for the amazing Danish op, Karsten Jacobsen. But it was almost 10 years later that I got my first rig. A small low cost rig, that just barely could cope with My HPX 500. Now I own a Clipper 312 and do 2-5 days of steadicam a month. Other than Steadicamming, I do a lot of hand held, I edit and much more... But it's steadicam that My heart beats for.

Thank God for editing and other gigs that allow us to fund this addiction while starting out, right?! LL
