Aloha,

 

Has anyone ever heard of or seen a "VFX" focus/iris controller. It has 2 heden motors and the controller is powered via a 9v battery.

They're actually not that bad of a system when its in top shape. If this were ten years ago, I'd say go for it. Back then there was support for them. Now, I wouldn't. Like Eric Fletcher says: Buy local! The company who made them is out of England and I'm pretty sure is no longer in business. Keep looking for a BFD if you can't afford a preston.

Thanks all for the reply. I was asked if I wanted it for a few $$$ as a back up. I have a FIZ 2, so if it's a good deal I might consider.. Can't beat Preston. I've had a FIZ for 12 years and only sent it once for a upgrade & cleaning..

I'm sure I remember Chris from Optical support in England saying that Marrell still repair them, and maintain them, best to double check though.

The VFX was made by a company founded by Howard Smith and Ben Fisher. They went out of business around 1999/2000. I've sold BFD's to people who had them but couldn't get them serviced. That's pretty much all I know.
