But right now I doubt you'll see half of that stuff on your shoots, much less it being required. When I was using a Flyer, I did a bunch of days with the Red One. The difference is you are limiting yourself to a lower level market with teh Flyer, as Eric points out. When someone asks if you can fly a Red and agrees to hire you after you tell them, "Yes, If..." they are not the productions Nick is talking about. I've never been turned down when i told them the limitations, but I have seen a little frustration on set when they realized just how limited they were. And I do think at least one DP has avoided calling me back because of it, even though i explained I could use a bigger rig the next time. Eric's words are wise: Don't let the gear be a limiting factor for what you want to do. That said, yeah, saving money has to happen one way or the other. There are many posts with my name on it that will tell you exactly how to fly a Red One with a Flyer, if you ever need to look it up.
