Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted December 20, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 20, 2004 I need a quick answer as i am shooting with this monitor tomorrow: according to the specs, the Marell monitor is "compatible" to NTSC and PAL, but what does that mean? is there an auto switching sensor or a button somewhere? I could not find anything on the monitor itself. who has experience with this  ?

blackdog
I would be interested in getting feedback from anybody who has used the Marell High Brightness Monitors.
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted April 8, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 8, 2005 The monitor is ok, it´s bright enough for most situations. I used it on a totally modified EFP and it worked well there. But I am not a fan anymore of greenscreen, it must be in color for me, nowadays. Try finding the actors in the jungle on a greenscreen.... (or a black and white video tap)
Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted May 20, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 20, 2005 They're plenty bright enough, I've been outside on a bright summer's day with one and there's no problems with seeing the image. You can also pick up a sun hood for it if you want. Depending on what model you buy, some also have tally lights built in to the top, just above the screen, which is useful. Overall, nice and bright, and worth the investment if you prefer green screen over colour LCDs.
Premium Members JobScholtze Posted December 21, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 21, 2005 Well, my FBX died yesterday. Frameline still works, bubble too but you need to adjust the bubble every 2 minuts. Its way out. Guess what, no support of course. So, first UNITCINE item down the toilet. I am looking at the Marell frameline and bubble. Looks very nice, but i dont know that compagny. I dont like to send out money to compagny's i dont know. Do you guys have any feedback about them? Greetings and thanks Job
Matt Mouraud
Hi there Job ! Well I have the HB5M monitor and the VideoLink from them and I am ordering their level. It seems that it's the best out there. A few people on this board use it with great results. As far as I am concerned you can go for it, they seem to be a well established company and stand behind their products.
Premium Members benedictspence Posted December 21, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 21, 2005 Hi Job, Used to have one of their monitors... Brilliant service when I bought it. Helpful, quick to dispatch the order if I remember correctly. And when 2 years of misstreatment made it go *Ffffzt* there were very helpful people on hand to talk me through opening the bugger up. Had to be sent back for repairs- cost were minimal and the monitor was only out of my possesion for about 3-4 days. I would highly recommend Marell, even if they do have a bit of a retro typeface on their gear! Merry Christmas! Ben Spence
Premium Members Thomas English Posted December 21, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 21, 2005 Yup, I use Marell all the time and would stake my own everything on them not letting you down. They always answere the phone and they are always good at sorting you out. They make all my cables at last minute notice and its absolutely great. The bubble, I have.... its great. You can get it with a VDA in it too, 2 blank and one with bubble.
