Premium Members Blair Phillips Posted December 14, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 14, 2010 I am sure there are many, but i am wondering if there is one that you would considered as authoritative and complete as Jerry Holway's? Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted December 14, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 14, 2010 Operating Cinematography for Film and Video: A Professional and Practical Guide by William Hines, SOC is a good book and I'm sure there are many others. Whether any book on creativity and camera technique could be considered "authoritative and complete" is highly unlikely. Jerry spent years upon years assimilating, collaborating and writing the material for his book and in regards to Steadicam it is incredibly comprehensive. However, the nature of printed publishing out-dates books before they hit the rack. Who'd have ever guessed 2-3 years ago we'd see two dozen Canon 5D's on every set in the hands of an equal number of Producers  Read every book you can get your hands on, practice your craft, experiment with unfamiliar techniques and learn as much as you can about cinematic story telling. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted December 14, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 14, 2010 I'd stick with anything written by Ted Churchill or Tom McDonough
