I get to fly that pig of a rig on Superbowl Saturday in Vegas for UFC next month. Dreading it already, eventhough they have whittled off about 20 pounds since I flew it last year. It didn't balance then and barely balances now. I had an advance prep day with it a few weeks ago and the system weighed in at 67 pounds before I mounted it on my Steadicam and close to 100 pounds total with my rig, arm and vest. I was thinking of bringing a piece of straw to tape to the top camera, just to see what happens.

This treath has been very helpfull. But i really hope i dont do 3d that much again. Most DP and director are asking things there used to, wich in 3d could be very hard.

I did 2 days in the mud, also running ( wich i dont have footage from to bad. ) I had to run backwards in front of a actrice who had to run true the mud. I never wish to do that again. Don juan was impossible with this shot.

Anyway, i hope the weight gets down another 50% before we have to do that again ;-)

Transmitting crap, stereographic bullshit and some more cable crap. A battery to get some sort of counter balance, and another 50 pounds of crap like motors, scorpio stuff. It really felt like a fridge on my arm. 4 Black springs almost at the end. Its no joy for sure

Another week of 3-D Steadicam gone by, I still have a love hate relationship with 3-D and still leaning towards the hate part.

This time I had a prep day figured out how to make the rig smaller and lighter and was able to make a small cable loom compared to the nightmare I had last time, all was great until a couple of my tiny BNC's failed and then at the last minute I had to revert back to the cable loom provided. I managed to strip it down but it still wasn't optimal.

Next time I have another solution, a 6ft jumper cable with a junction box that mounts on the back of my vest.

lovely

I did a concert recently. ( 2x 1.5 hour ) wireless. Meaning i had a backpack on with 2 D-cam transmitters. I have to say that the hate part is much bigger then the love part. ( did i mention i hate it ? )

Here a pic and small clip of my friendly setup.

So glad to see that 21st Century has come up with a better solution

I like 3slity rigs but this looks way better, I wish the boys over at 21st had come up with this before I got tortured in the Sony movie. Lol
