steadicam spam?

Anybody else out there been getting ridiculous spam emails these last couple of days from "James Brown" looking for an op and a need to disclose an "exact location"? It's very similar in tone/style to those Nigerian bank scams.

I just started getting a message from a "James Brown", and in the message he says his name is Jordan Brown. This is what it says:

 

"I am Jordan Brown,a consultant/events organizer.I need your service as a Steadicam Operator for an event coming up very soon.I would appreciate if you would tell me your exact location since the project is taping place simultaneously within the states of the federation. The project will hold at a rented studio in your location,so you don't have to worry about traveling,the name and address of the studio will be forwarded to you before the date.please if interested you can contact me via email jam19brown@gmail.com. Regards."

 

It seems translated. I've received two of them this day, the second having slight variations in it. I responded once. Hmm, red flag!

I got one myself from James Brown and there is also a Tony anderson same events organizer! Never heard of that one before.

i was bcc'ed which was the first fail.

 

 

complete fail. steadicam was spelled wrong, and his name didnt match.

 

a quick google search turned up this email has been used in other scams across crackbook, etc.

 

i use mandy and this email is registered with them...

Asking for all the other info is a way to start gathering info, they sell the info to someone else who will try and pry other little bits of info from you over time, till they have enough to call several banks in your area till they get it right and say they're you and they have moved and want to get a new debit card mailed to them, then they have a field day!
