I got the impression from the original post that .eu is a separate entity. If you go there, there is a link to .com

I never thought of .com as a strictly american forum, seems that it caters to everyone around the world. Similarly, .eu seems to be open to anyone around the world, so I'm not sure a separate forum was needed. Same with .net, a forum for only members of the Steadicam Guild, since I can just come here to pull information from a larger pool. Having 3 forums with the same name, SteadicamForum.com, SteadicamForum.net, and SteadicamForum.eu, does imply they are all related and causes confusion among members, as seen here.

That said, I have long hoped for geographical subforums on .com LA and New York are obvious, or even just West Coast/East Coast. Europe as a whole, or individual regions/countries would be great. There wouldn't have to be much to them, just a place for local operators to find each other easily. We often have posts that are region specific and sometimes the posters do not name where they are. A lot of that could be cleaned up and aimed directly at the intended recipients.

I have no idea what doing this would mean for moderation, and I understand the forum is working as-is (if it ain't broke). The professional steadicam population is growing around the world, and it may be useful, for example, for people in europe to have their own forum.

Last fall a few of us started a google group for operators in our market (essentially: Non-600 in Los Angeles, but not strictly). It's still basically beta, but with 2 dozen members we've been able to communicate about jobs to keep the rate higher, and help each other at the last minute with various emergencies. It's beginning to look like a very useful tool. Food for thought I suppose.

So I fully support SteadicamForum.eu and hope it is useful to European operators. If the sites are related, great. If not, maybe a slight URL change? Or less drastically, just a clarification on the main page? Or maybe it's not as confusing as I and others think?

P.S. the google group is essentially invitation only, but only to keep things manageable while we feel it out, not as a way of excluding anyone. Anyone who is interested in joining may contact me via PM or email to discuss it. :)
