Hi

I saw this and after stopping LMAO and picking myself off the floor, I couldn't help but think...maybe he's on to something!

Check this ebay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com....=item4cf62e32fb

As weird as it may seem, has anybody ever tried this reverse vest technique?

Cheers

Norbert

Norbert,

It has been done before. I forget the details but if memory serves an operator in the late 70's or early 80's got hold of a rig and since he lived in a secluded place taught himself. Years later, he ran into Garrett who watched amazed as the guy did this. When asked, he said "it just seemed like the right way.".

I would not recommend it however but the point is, there is more than one way to skin a cat. This line of thinking may well have led to the development of the back mounted vest too.

Norbert;

The original guys to do there were some Australians who had no idea how the whole Steadicam worked.

They put the vest on backwards and did what this guy is doing.

It was late 80's and no internet; no training tapes; workshops were few and far between.

We all laughed because even some fellow Australians said it wasn't good to operate.

We all then were surprised when a decade later the rear-vest from D. Sauve materialized and again it took a while but Walter Klassen perfected it and today it's the back mounted vest.
