Premium Members Rick Drapkin Posted April 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 These batteries look exactly the same as the ones the Rathbone Energy sells. Interesting. I hope that these batteries have a lot better customer service.

Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted April 2, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 Thanks Job, Yes I am guilty of not hitting search, sorry But thank you . . . . Here's the deal, I already have some LI 190's I bought from video tech supply, they are great batteries and have nothing but great results with them http://www.videotechsupply.com/ANSSO-TECHNOLOGY-PROFESSIONAL-DIGITAL-BATTERIES_c9.htm I am wanting to buy some new ones for my second rig But after seaching the web I found GlobalMedia and they now have these LI 230 http://www.globalmediapro.com/do/post/? and for a great price. So my concern was is this web site a legit business, I feel all of these Chines Batteries are all manufactured by the same people just packaged with different names
Premium Members JobScholtze Posted April 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 I stopped using cheap batterys. Sure, the work, but for how long. Indeed, there are so many chinese crap batterys out there, difficult to know for sure. I do know the batterys mark bought didnt do it for him. My collegue bought them for his camera, and the work fine. So its not an easy thing. I'll stick with the HC's for now. Best investment ever. Long runtime, and no issues at all/
Premium Members Nic Owens Posted April 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 Hey Rob, James Puli has bought some GMP batteries and, from what I gather, is really happy with them. Maybe PM him and he could fill you in. Cheers, Nic
Premium Members James Puli Posted April 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) Hey Rob, yes I have global media pro batteries. Theres a few little things that annoy me about them, but otherwise they're fine. One of their 160w batts runs my monitor for nearly a day. I ran a digi beta camera from one of the 95w batts for like 2-3 hours from memory. That being said, I haven't had to power any cameras with high power requirements in a long time. And when I do, I tend to either use rental house batteries and or borrow some Anton Bauer's as Im not sure if they will handle the load. Delivery / customer service is great, you order, pay and they and they arrive. As el cheapo batteries for a 2nd rig, cant go wrong! Premium Members Martin Stacey Posted April 3, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2011 Hi Rob, Globalmeadipro source their batteries from the Bielen factory in China as far as I have been able to tell. I have had 6x90's and 6x190's for about 5 years and never had a problem with them. They will run everything from Thomson wireless cams with Gigawave transmitters (100 watt draw) to Arri's and Aatons on my AR. We did a test against Dionics in the office with a 100watt Sungun and the GMP's ran for 90 mins while the Dionics wouldn't even get it to glow. While I wouldn't try to run a 435 at 150fps with them I wouldn't hesitate for most other things. (Especially considering the price) Do remember though that you need their charger but those are cheap too. My .02 Cheers, Martin
Premium Members JobScholtze Posted April 3, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2011 The thing is with all the power hungry HD cams these days, that cheap batterys work, the only matter is, for how long. As i have seen so far is that the hungry stuff kicks those batterys everytime you turn it all on. Thats why AB makes the HC. The HC wont fire up lights and camera;s longer, but more stable and it wont hurt your battery. ( i think ) I used to use phylion battery's, wich are also chinese batterys, on my AR. I killed the batterys within 7 months.

They have very good prices, but their policy about only accepting payment via wire transfer, and some negative complaints I found on the internet after googling the company has me a little weary. I know James and a few others have had success with them, but they are all based in Australia, so I'm curious if you or anyone else has had success receiving shipments from GlobalMediaPro in the US? Thanks. Noah
