Now with so many on the market I was wondering which Archos lets you record a full day of shooting and is still not crazy expesive. Interesting thing to notice, even when signal is supplied through composite, it still records 1280x960 :) i have to say, the quality is really decent and useful for internet. Can you view the recording on that tiny screen, or do you have to output it to something else? While recording video, you can see it on screen. It's a touch screen device. It can also capture screenshots as jpegs. I like it. It's tiny, feels very solid /durably built, not cheap plastic. Also you can record analouge mono audio while recording through composite port. I think it's a good device in overal to record reels. I bought it specifically for this purpose, as most of the times getting material from TV or film, is impossible... btw, on 16 gig SD card, you can record over 4 hours of material and with 7 hour optional battery, it's more than enough for the whole day :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The gen4 has seperate input and ouput connectors while the gen5 uses the same connector for both so you cant wire them independantly. That is true. You can select a few different recording frame sizes, but of course, the signal is still NTSC/PAL upscaled to 1280x960. It does have a mini HDMI input which is intended for digital camera. I haven't tried to record from HDMI source, need to buy standard > mini hdmi adapter, but if you have hdmi signal, most likely it will get the signal and then you can have hd material.
