hey imran !

the seitz is an old but very good and reliable follow focus.the price seemsto be allright, but keep in mind that you will need at least one motor with gears as well.the seitz normally comes also with a special extension cable for the third channel if , for example the dop wants to pull iris himself.couldn´t see it at the picture. it would also important to find out what cables come with it.believe me,cables are EXPENSIVE.

trx to also check out with seitz company itself (i think they come from switzerland) if this price is okay for a used model.

i have worked with a seitz a couple of times and it allways worked really nicely and accurate.that´s all i can tell you about it.hope that helped.

all the best and good luck

sebastian ;)

Seitz is right outside of Philadelphia in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

www.Seitz.com They still service their follow focus and I've found them very nice people to deal with. I think they still support the system with batteries and other aks.

If it's in good condition and everything works this is not a bad first follow focus system if you can get a working motor and cabless at a decent price. Keep in mind you'll also need to mount that motor into a bunch of weird places and you'll need a set of gears for film, and video lenses so add that all into the equation.

It should do well for all your video jobs and some film until you get up to the stiffer 35 mm lenses and by then you'll be looking to find something with a bit more punch. Calibaration is not as easy as other systems but it's not brain surgery either. There's lot of good work which was shoot with the Seitz system if you work within it's capabilities it should serve you well.

You might get some funny looks from some experienced AC's who will tell you that a Preston or Scorpio is the only way to go and if you're looking to play in the major leagues they're right

but if you're just starting out and want to service small market and Independent film producers while you're building your reel this is not a bad first choice.

You'll probably be the last owner of this gear unless you give it away or find someone else just starting out. Another thing you might think about is an upgrade stategy of buying an M1 motor to use with your Seitz and when you can afford it switch over to a BFD.

Good Luck

Hi Imran,

If you are still looking for a Seitz, I know of a couple of people that are using them as door stoppers... Yes they work, but nobody wants to buy them anymore...

E-mail me off list and I can hook you up with a list of names.

Fly Safe,

Erwin
