Premium Members Thomas English Posted April 26, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 26, 2011 It looks remarkably similar to the Steadyrig battery hanger: http://www.steadyrig.com/prod_Batt.html
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted April 26, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 26, 2011 While I admit it looks similar to Hugo's Battery Hanger, it also looks similar to the Pro-Lite from the mid-90's. Both Battery Hangers are well made. I got to check out Alec's new Pro3 this past weekend and it is very nice. I am sure more who are flying it will chime in soon but it is very modular, well made and allows a bit more battery travel fore/aft than the Pro2 does. rb
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted April 27, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted April 27, 2011 Beware, the $4900 does NOT include a lower junction box or the jumper blocks. The lower HD box is $1900 and the jumpers are $150/each. Also, the first run is sold out and the price is going up a bit. That said, as usual the folks at PRO have done a fine job. It is very, very cool. As for it looking like the battery hanger from down under, Ron is correct, it looks even more like GPI's own PRO lite. Premium Members Brian Nordheim Posted April 27, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2011 Thanks for the insight. Has anyone noticed if the fore and aft adjustment on the hanger has a tracking channel in the tube to keep the batteries from rotating when adjusting? Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted April 27, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted April 27, 2011 Yes, Brian. The fore/aft tube has a groove to prevent any rotation. The locking mechanism is the same as the newer style center post. While I just received mine, I have played with it a bit and have been impressed with the adjustability. Each individual battery plate battery plate can also be removed.
Premium Members Liam Clark Posted April 28, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 28, 2011 I have owned a one of the Steadyrigs Battery Hangers for some time now. I was flying it on my Pro 1 sled and I loved it. I like the simplicity of the design, the fore and aft balance, and the price. Earlier this year I decided to upgrade my sled to HD, and I have moved my Battery Hanger to my new Pro 2 lower junction box and It works great. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted April 29, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 29, 2011 I wonder what the battery travel differences are between SteadyRig's Battery Hanger and Pro's (besides the obvious front battery travel - but it would be nice to see some side by side pics)
Scott Coleman
I was lucky enough to get one in the first run and am loving it more and more with everyday of use. There is def a tracking channel when making a for/aft adjustment so there is NO problem there. But the cool thing is that you can loosen the clamp in the tracking channel and rotate the batteries 90deg to get your battery readout in a heads up position if you prefer that. The only current con I can find right now is that they are still designing the recorder/transmitter bracket so it can fit the new style AB HCX batteries when it is mounted. Other then that it makes achieving dynamic balance much easier then cranking the old PRO2 knob. You can get roughly 1/2" farther extension then the PRO2 hanger. A HUGE DIFFERENCE especially when at a 2.5 to 3 sec drop time. Well worth the investment. Edited April 30, 2011 by Scott Coleman
