Real face of MK-V Customer support

Hello everyone,

i am once again amazed by community support, thank you very much.

Sadly, I cannot accept will's offer, first of all, because i'm not a poor guy which can't pay himself a ticket to UK :) Yes, things are more expensive for us than the ones living in western european country or US etc, but I'm not complaining in anyway, I work hard and I earn, so please don't understand my thread as cry for financial help. It's just i'm thinking that I should not be paying for what's supposed to be working.

I didn't have a chance to try PRO or XCS rig on my own, as both of the companies were not present on Cinec show, but one of reasons why i chose mk-v is that mk-v is located in UK. I financed loan from the bank to buy sled, so it had to be bought under my company's name. If i had to buy from US, on top of a sled price , let's say 30k $, I would have to pay 20% duty and 21% VAT, in total i would have to pay around 12k $ for taxes, which is a lot of money (not for a rig, but for taxes :D ). And i can't just fly in to US, buy the rig and come back, because i would still be obliged to buy rig under company's name, and not paying taxes by bringing that with me on a plane, would cause me trouble.

Furthermore, i must say i am happy with the rig itself, except the issues.

Talking of which, the story seems to be developing to a positive side. After having some time to cool off doing my first really big commercial with great DOP and director (which i'm really excited about about their trust in me), i chatted with Howard. I was surprised about fair attitude and constructive reply. I hope that stays that way. Howard should be shipping me a new replacement gimbal next week after Cinegear. That's a start! Did my publicity make a change? I hope so...

Hey Tomas,

You can also buy Pro GPI, through optical support in the UK, they are a registered dealer, and they have rigs in that you can try, keep spares etc etc.

Well done on the big commercial job by the way, always nice when you start to make big steps forward in this world.

No matter where from you buy - Betz, Optical support or any other european dealer, all them quote the price EX works USA, meaning taxes will be on top of the price...

Indeed, maybe a phantom/Ultra would be a viable option then?

Anyway, regardless, I wish you the best of luck in getting your issues resolved, and my offer still stands for a beer if you are ever over in England!

Hah, not too long hopefully. Don't want to make any promises, but we are not far from the finish line now, we missed Cinegear by a few days with a working unit. I am very happy with the product, I hope you will be too.

Pete.

Tomas, you can also come and visit me and have a look at the HoFoPro!!

Eeh???? Will that solve his rig issues?

Like you I thought that this post was not only grossly out of place in this thread but incredibly self serving ESPECIALLY in light of Will's Fantastic and generous offer

Tomas,

I understand your position BUT you really owe it to yourself to fly a PRO and and XCS sled, you'll will end up changing your mind about the MK-V product. The PRO and XCS sleds are light years ahead of the mk-v stuff and a joy to fly

Eric, as Tomas has mentioned, he was the first person to pay up and order a HoFoPro, and I was merely adding another inscentive for him to come to the UK if he decides to take up Wills incredible offer. I realise that it might have seemed like a shameless advert, but it was not intended like this. Tomas and I are in daily contact, and I was just letting him know that he would be welcome to come and visit me and see the equipment he has ordered whilst in the UK dealing with MKv. In fact, by the time he visits, I may well have his unit ready to take away with him.

Thanks,

Pete.

Tomas:

Really sorry to hear of your troubles. I'm not surprised. I have been there myself.

Will, great post and a wonderful offer but I can't imagine Tomas will ever see a refund of any kind. No Way.

Tomas my advice is to have Betz patch up your rig and write off the expense as a lesson learned. Next time buy a Pro or XCS. Even with a 20% tax premium it is well worth it. Really.

So a few pages back there were some posts about people being afraid of posting things on the forum and not being able to receive service afterwards. I understand where you are coming from but I think there might be something else to it as well. Could it be that people are afraid of the diminishing value of their rig's resale value?
