The Jack Black thing was hilarious, but Beyonce stole the show. Great job John P !! Were you tethered or wireless camera? I caught a quick glimpse of you in a wide shot...what kind of headset were you using? It looked silverish and big. Anyone know what he uses? I'm looking for headset recommendations for tv work. Maybe he'll chime in Hi Guys Just my two cents, but Dick Clark aviation headsets have great ambient noise attenuation and are worth a look. I'm usually wearing a headset for 12+ hours everyday, and I chose bose because it's light weight and very comfortable for long periods of time. You don't need any tech know-how to modify them...just send them to trew audio in Nashville www.trewaudio.com and tell them you want the John Perry mod. The same as every artist use. earphonesolutions.com is the place to order them. I bring it in combination with a beltpack with transmitter For talk back to the obv i use a walkie. The inears wire is integrated in my vest. Love this combo. Put a small mixer in between the obv signal and your inears and your ac can talk you true, or help with whatever suits you. ( in case of HAVING a ac ) I made a peli case with a sennheiser inears set, mixer, 2 monitors and a mic. Its a matter of minuts to set it all up and the obv only provides me a intercom line, a video sdi line with the steadicam on it and a video program line. With this mixer i also can use the technical line, so i can hear the camera's talking to eachother, and thats not going true the production. We call it the fun line. I did this mod on the QC2 almost 10 years ago because I didn't have $1k to spend on a headset back then, plus I needed at least one pair for each of my rigs. Everything at trewaudio cost a little less than half of the cost of an A20. Here are a couple of snapshots. Today I would get an A20, just cuz the bluetooth feature is cool! The QC2 doesn't have that...volume control comes from the camera. If you can cut out and bypass that box, and add a 5pin xlr I will buy both of them from you! He told me he's done a couple of different variations of the "John Perry mod" but if you tell him how you want it he can do it. I don't think they sell the Bose QC's. You may need to supply it. The QC15 is the successor to the QC2 and is about the same price. I snagged a smokin deal from Ebay but haven't done the mod yet. Trew also sells a headset based on the Sony pro headphones (not for high noise environments) and one with Sony drivers inside David Clark-style earcups. Supposed to be very effective. Not sure we will win that Emmy category because the east coast shows we are up against usually get a lot of votes. Yes Mark is right, ask for Dean when you call Trewaudio. They are not a dealer for Bose so you have to supply your own Bose headset to get the mod, and they do the rest.
