I have a bunch HD footage that I shot, recorded on my DVR from some features and TV shows. The DVR has HDMI out. How do I get it from the box to my MacBook pro in full HD resolution? Thx! Dan I'm sure that Sydney Seeber will tell you that you don't need that level of "Codec" for your reel.... Premium Members Charles Papert Posted May 31, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 31, 2011 For a while I had to either drag the DVR down to my office or my Mac Pro up to the living room to capture stuff for my reel via the HDMI input on the $199Blackmagic Intensity Pro video card. That doesn't help you with your Macbook Pro (but maybe it will help someone else who have the desktop computer). More recently I've been using a Convergent Designs Nanoflash to capture right at the DVR, then transfer the files via card reader. Much more efficient, and would work with the laptop. However--costly. Most if not all of the new capture devices that were shown at NAB have HDMI inputs so if you end up with one of those as an onboard deck, there you go. For under $500, you can get the Matrox MXO2 Mini that will connect to your MacbookPro with the Expresscard and has a variety of inputs including HDMI. DVR files don't seem to have DRM issues that I've seen. Premium Members Daniel Stilling DFF Posted August 1, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted August 1, 2011 Hey Guys, As an update to this issue, I ended up purchasing an Atomos Ninja, since I shoot a lot of my AF100, So it turned out to be a multi use device. Capturing footage from my DVR was a breeze. I was concerned about copyright blocking, but there was no issue, and I got all the footage in my hard drive. Now on to cutting new reels...
