Premium Members Daniel Stilling DFF Posted June 30, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 30, 2011 This goes to show how varied and colorful this community is. The only reason I haven't gotten a Cinetronic yet, is that the 7" is too small for me. I use a not very bright 9" Manhattan monitor and I love the large picture and a chance to scan for bogies in the shot. I have no issue scanning the monitor. It's just personal preference... I remember how helish it was to see anything on my postage stamp sized 3A monitor, so I'm grateful for the color and the size. Dan
Martin Yee
Chris, I spoke with an acquaintance of mine last week who is in the Jib world. He seemed interested in the daylight viewability of the 6.5" you already have, but was hoping for more of a 12" screen size. He was using a 9" on the day, and every other day I've worked with him. I meant to get him in touch with you, I'll pop him an email. I don't know all the features he would be looking for, but he was very excited about what you've done with the Steadicam model. We have some pictures of the 12.1" high bright screen on the Cinetronic facebook page. Hello all, Sorry for the intrusion from a jib operator, (by the way, I am not the jib operator that Chris mentioned) but since we are looking at monitors with similar requirements I hope you guys have some insight in this. I am a Jimmy Jib Triangle owner/operator based in Central Florida. I am looking into a monitor that has good contrast as well as maximum brightness in full daylight just like you steadicam ops are looking for. I need good versatility in connections from HDSDI, component, RCA, HDMI and the like. Because all my clients has all sorts of cameras that I need to mount and operate on the jib... from DSLRs - REDs-ENGs-film cameras to EX-1 and 3's just to name a few. Anyways, I am searching for a decent monitor that is good for indoor as well as outdoor use. (I am not the jib operator that Chris mentioned)I guess an all in one package... or should I get different monitors for indoor and and a different for outdoor use? Currently, I am using Marshall Monitors 7 inch HD screen with HDSDI and video in and out. Ideally for me I would like to see a 10-15 inch monitor. I guess I am out of luck in terms of recomendations since you guys like them around 7-9 inches eh? Marshall has a screen that is easy to adjust focus on. I would also prefer to have an option to have a external battery either V-mount or Anton as well as the option for hard power. Since I work quite a few times in golf courses or remote areas... it is hard to find power unless I bring a loud gas powered generator with me. Since I am familiar with Marshall monitors... I am looking into this model: http://www.lcdracks.com/monitors/model/V-R1041DP-AFHD.php I would love to have a yoke built so I can adjust the monitor's pitch automatically when I am booming up or down on the jib. This looks promising: Inclomonitor Anyways I hope some of you guys can share some insights with me. Since I am from a different specialty in terms of camera support, I feel we share some common requirements for monitors. However my requirements do not necessarily represent all jib operators out there, I guess everyone is a bit different. I welcome anyone to chime in. Thanks in advance! Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted July 15, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 15, 2011 Hi Martin, I'm a little confused. The answer to your question is in the posts you quoted. I (rather than Chris) mentioned a Jib operator looking for a 12" daybright monitor, so that would fall into your range of 10"-15". Chris responded to let me know Cinetronic already makes a 12" and he told me where to find pictures. I just checked those pictures out and see that it does not have all the connections you are looking for, although with any luck maybe Chris can help you with that, otherwise to use a Cinetronic monitor with some cameras you may need converters. Chris, I did let my Jib friend know and I hope he's contacted you by now to discuss his needs. :)
Premium Members chris bangma Posted July 16, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted July 16, 2011 We currently have a 4:3 12" monitor available, 1500 nits brightness. We have a 16:9 version in the works, and should be finished with that in a couple weeks. Currently the inputs are HD-SDI, Composite, VGA, and DVI/HDMI. We could possibly add component as well. I was in middle of corrections when the "edit post" timed out on me. Sorry for the confusion. However, I appreciate the speedy response. I will have a look at the Cinetronic. Thanks! -Martin

Hello Chris, The monitors look and spec-wise looks great! Just like the Steadicam guys, I have to accomodate all kinds of cameras and deal with all sorts of inputs imaginable and for both indoor/outdoor situations. However, I have a few questions... Is there a XLR power option? Also a 3/8 screw mount for monitor so I can mount to a Cardillini Clamp? Any chance to mount a battery for portable power for IDX or Anton brick? Is it possible to post a .pdf user manual with listed specs that I can see? Is the 16:9 switchable to 4:3 and vice versa? Adjustable action safe lines? Focus assist or equivalent? Is there a price? Sorry for the avalanche of questions, looks like I want a all-in-one wonder monitor. Thanks! Premium Members chris bangma Posted July 24, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted July 24, 2011 We have 2 12" monitors available, either 4:3 or 16:9 aspects ratio. Bother monitors will take almost any format and fit it to the screen. You can also choose custom aspect ratios for either screen. The 12" monitors have a 4 pin XLR for power input. We can also build the monitors with a battery plate as a secondary power input. At the moment, we do not have frame lines or focus assist with the current controller. These features will come when we switch to the new controller.
