Hi All,

I work for Boland, and am new to the Steadicam Forum. One of my SC clients had recommended that I join this site to learn and listen. I am open to any feedback you may have to improve our monitors for you.

We have a brand new 8.4" DayBrite that I thought might be of interest...... It has 1500 nts for briteness, an increased resolution of 1024x768, safe-area framelines, PIP and PBP, and comes with these standard signal inputs: dual HD/SD SDI (with loop), composite (with loop), component, DVI, and HDMI.

After listening to operator feedback, we have also added the anti-glare, added 10-32 holes on the sides and 1/4-20's on top and bottom, and ensured that you had 178 degrees off access viewing both horizontally AND vertically.

It's available with other options: battery plate(s), lemo connector, 2 different yoke mounts.

If you have any feedback, comments, or questions about this unit or anything else monitor related, please feel free to let me know.

Best,

Gary

PS- BTW - working on something smaller now....it will be a bit, however. How small do you want / need? I have been told that specifically for SC (not for an onboard) that much smaller than 8.4" is not necessarily always preferred. Is this accurate???

I've been flying the 8.4 since 2007. I've never once thought it was too big. In fact, i wouldn't be scared to try flying a 12" if the mounting bracket and cable worked. I had the guys at Boland put a gold mount plate on the back of my 8.4 and I've actually flown with an HC on the back of the monitor as well as one in each of the 3 PRO spots when I needed more bottom weight for a heavy camera. Apparently the new 8.4 is much improved over mine but I still think that my 8.4 is a million times better than flying my old PRO sd Greenie.

Gary--

Thanks for getting my new DayBrite on it's way to me in NY!!

Sadly, it arrived yesterday and we just took several days of hiatus so Production is sending it to my home. Can't wait to rig it and put it through the trenches on this show!!
