Hired Gun Batteries and Charger

Looks like one of my posts was deleted. If you're going to do that, just do us all a favour and delete the whole thread...

James, I couldn't agree more. I should have read more before asking these questions. A few of my questions could have been knocked off that way. This was my mistake and I take full responsibility for it.

------I still feel that this one had every reason to be asked. Until Rob told me that these were re-branded batteries, which then allowed me to find information on it, there was nothing to be found anywhere on the internet about how these batteries would behave in a steadicam environment.------

I appologize to everybody if it seems that I haven't been taking away anything from these threads. I do listen and take into account each and every individual post.

Let's stop this "that's xx experience talking", though. I've gotten as much good advice from ops of 5 years as ops of 25 so far, and I don't intend to start weighing each post by the number of years behind it.

A few grey haired ops (not you Janice, you've been very helpful yet honest, and I appreciate both) appear to be fed up with these questions entireley. If that's the case, why not make it a closed forum, invite only? Otherwise you're going to get questions, some of them new and some of them not.

Cheers,

Alex

Reading this from the lunch queue Alex. Many of us, even if busy, still find the time to read the posts and eventually help out, some better than others. Once again is the wrong attitude that drags people on a wrong track. Eventually, investing some of your time in reading could have helped you in learning from other's mistakes. Wish you luck

I look forward to the day when I have more time, for many reasons :)

I have found a wealth of knowledge here, enough to justify not asking two of my four questions. The question about cables isn't counted anymore, sice I actually was hoping to just start a friendly interesting discussion. I still stand by this question though, and the one about MK-V topstage/gimbal (since those parts had been discussed, but no comparison could be drawn).

Here is a sticky suggestion: tell people to search this website through google. After Mark told me to do that, most of my questions were answered. The forum search just doesn't work well enough for skimming.

Cheers (and will a mod please ask Tim to delete this?)

Alex

Alex,

I'm wondering about you. in the past few weeks you claim to 20 years old looking to become a steadicam operator with no time to search the archives, but then if we look at your posting history you come up with some obscure posts that would require some in-depth searching. You are evasive when people asks your location (What is it, Menomonie, Wisconsin or Luseggwald, Switzerland?) and then most interestingly you post this gem Here where you claim to be an economic consultant and speaker on the subject... At 20 years of age?

Lot's of people have tried to help you and all you have done is argue with them, all of them with FAR more experience than you, all of them capable of helping you, passing work onto you... Yet you argue and tell us how you are correct, we are wrong, we that you wrong and you just done't have the time to do your own research. Today during my 12.5 hour work day where I am the "A" Camera/Steadicam operator (on the number one show on the network no less) I was able to find the time to; Address forum issues, answer Private Messages on the forum (Some dealt with you...) deal with e-mail, asking for help, advice or information, return a few phone calls from operators with some time sensitive issues, Text message a caniadian operator who asked me how I mount my MDR so high, so I send him 10 photos of how to do it. And send out a few photos of my new cart to some interested operator that asked for them.

Yet you claim that I don't help people.... You've got the most tolerant person on this forum done with you, you have another one that happens to be one of the other mods ticked off at you also. I have people PM'ing me all the time wondering what your story is and why you are the way you are.

Oh well off to bed for a scheduled 14 hour day tomorrow (yet I still found the time to post)

Eric, I'm a bit of a private person, so excuse me if I don't hand out my home address. Your IP tracker lust be off though, because my home is Minneapolis, MN, and my family lives in Bern, CH, where I am often and post from.

Economics was my previous career path, and I was in an internship /job agreement for on-the-site learning (over in CH) up until the end of this summer, when I left it to presue my real dream. But that's a bit complex a story to tell when I'm just blowing off steam on somebodys reel post (not to mention at the time they were having me help somebody who was trying to steal my spot, which you can read in the original post). I considered what I was doing to be, in part, a job. So I called it that. But that is neither here nor there.

Why does it seem that I'm pushing back the help I'm getting? On the contrary, I've learned a lot. When I argue, it's because I feel something inaccurate has been posted (such as the above statement). I think if you read this thread, you'll see how many times I admit that I was wrong and should have read the forum more first. But, since you have time to read, even with your busy schedule, I'll address each question.

Question 1: choosing a workshop - I learned which workshop would best suit my needs and locations. I did not argue at all.

Question 2: cables - I learned how many of each cable would be good to have, and contradicted your snide post about me not understanding the equipment or the career.

Question 3: Mk-v - I learned about their company issues, and what topstage and gimbal suit me the best. I contradicted again your comments that I had no idea what I was doing.

Question 4: monitors - I learned which type of monitor would fit ky budget.

This question: I learned batteries were rebranded, to read more before posting, and that Eric is finding out where I live.

It seems to be a problem between me and only one other operator...

I'm also curious as to why you're putting so much time into figuring me out. Im just another name. There's no need to look up where I live or hear my career story. My market is thousands of miles from yours or anybody on the forum. I'm interested to hear your reasoning on this.

Eric, I take it you received my apology email, but just in case..

I apologize for my previous post and the one before that. When I originally read them, I was in communications with some very frustrating people, and my mood made me read your comments as critical and unfriendly. Just for the sake of checking, though, I reread your posts and I couldn't have been more wrong. Here you were trying to help, and I was throwing out criticisms at you.

Janice, I owe you an appology as well. Again, see my email, but I see now the great error of my ways.

Well, anyways I'm very sorry. I've requested my account and these posts to be removed, and blocked my username so that my very misguided and poor attitude doesn't follow me on to the future, when I hope that you guys on the forums will consider me a friend.

I've decided that given the current frustrations of my life, now is not the best time to be on the forum. I'll join again once I can truly classify myself to be a full time pro steadi op.

Cheers until later everybody!
