Looks nice Eric, but to be fair and completely honest, Greg Bubb has been making 2 inch posts for YEARS, and this MK-V one looks like an exact copy of Greg Bubb's XCS 2" telescoping post. And Greg has made a 2" post, gimbal, monitor bracket and docking bracket conversion for the PRO sled for over 2 years now.

The MK-V gimbal looks like a copy of a PRO gimbal top and XCS gimbal bottom.

The monitor bracket looks like Greg's XCS telescoping monitor bracket too.

All of which you can have done from Greg for A LOT less money than even this "introductory" rate from MK-V.

I am all for free speach and having your own opinon...

But slander is illegal and this is what your last post is.

All of the MK-V products listed above have either been in the market for the last 5 years or are patented and design regestered, inc. the 4 stage (note 4 stage) 2" post and V2" advanced modular gimbal.

MK-V prides itself on being original and innovative in all of its designs and concepts.

Enough said.

If anyone would like to contact me to know the diffences please feel free.

Howard, hello.

First off, I did not slander you in my last post.

If you recall, I, according to you in early 2003, was the first person in LA to purchase your MK-V Deluxe Evolution with the 4 stage post, after selling my Master Series. I was also the first person to return one a couple days later as I stated, it "wasn't for me. And I bought it sight unseen."

But, correct me if I'm wrong, and I checked with others, your 4 stage post then and up until recently apparently was 45 mm (not 2") but rather around 1 3/4 inches.

I also know yours is a 4 stage, not 2 stage like Greg's, and I never said otherwise. My post pointed out that yours LOOKS exactly like Greg Bubb's XCS 2" post. Which in fact it does!! And that he's been doing the PRO conversion for 2+ years now. Which in fact he HAS!!

I also stated, that yours looks nice too. But at it's "introductory" cost of $12,450

one can get the upgrade from Greg Bubb for less money. I believe his upgrade (complete with telescoping post, gimbal, telescoping monitor bracket, docking bracket) is in the price range of $9800.

Nowhere is any of that or in my post slanderous.

For some reason you just seem to want to dominate this board with all your self

marketing, and you get your panties in a wad and get all offended and lash out if someone else plugs or says anything positive about another manufacturer. None of those other manufacturers come onto this board with all kinds of self congratulatory posts, or has commissioned or paid representatives doing it for them either. Only you come onto this board in basically EVERY section plugging your OWN company, gear, products, and services.

And have some professional decency and respect to LET others say good things about other manufacturers without you coming on here with a attacking response too.

Maybe the steadicamforum will return to it's pre 2004 standards.

Have a nice day, hope all is well.

Michael

Eric,

I deleted one original response to you, because this is just silly.

I'm sorry you and Howard feel that someone can't express their thoughts without

jumping down their throat.

Your responses to the Genesis harness and Hummingbird are quite funny.

Just because someone suggests a "better" or "different" way of doing something doesn't mean it's their "idea" or "baby" or whatever, especially when they have ZERO to do with the original design, concept, idea, and the making of the product.

I hadn't come on these boards for months and right off, Howard and now you once again are chasing me, along with many others I've spoke to off again. It's just not worth it to be chastised by him and now you for having an opinion that's OUTSIDE of his MK-V world.

I posted on the batteries issue you started that I don't think it's such a big deal what

AB did protecting their position and sales and what do you do, jump down my throat

and make a defamation of character judgement against me and Peter Abraham (who I don't know personally and don't know what that analogy was suppose to imply anyway).

I'll admit, I got suckered in by Howard's response to my thought that his upgrade looks just like Greg Bubb's and and saying I was being slanderous. It just upset me so that I had to reply. He just can't seem to be able to handle the truth or anyone else's opinion that differs from his diluted and biased view.

I'm tired of his endless salesmanship on this board ever since he started posting with regularity in March or April of last year.

Unlike some others I've never claimed to be all knowing about steadicam or pretended to be an engineer or "innovator" or "originator" of anything steadicam.

But at least I'm honest, truthful and forthright about it.

Take care Eric, see you on the road sometime maybe at another auto show or road racing even, and surely off this board. I don't care to argue with you now about this topic or any other time, it's just not any fun or worth either of our energies.

Hope all is well.

Guys, Guys.

I just have to chime in for a moment......

In all honesty Eric it does sound a bit like you are shilling for Howard. Each and every post that you have posted in the recent past, with the execption of the Hytron post has been pretty clearly in praise of one thing and one thing only. Its looking a little suspicious. Kind of like you work for MK-V or something.

No one has impuned Howard's name, but I think that what the reaction to the posts is due the feeling that the forum is being used as an advertising tool for one company. People are beginning to react to that, and for that reason, maybe we should begin to lighten up on the promotion of a single product. There are many many vendors out there who make comparable products, at equal or less cost.

In this forum it has been my intention as well as others to expose members of all skill level to the best, good and bad of the Steadicam community. To talk about as many products as possible and find a way to make sure that the forum does not become a location for one vendor or one manufacturer. I hope that we all continue to uphold the nature and integrity of this forum by making sure that we don't over emphasize one manufacturer's product line, for whatever reason, at the stake of the rest.

For the record, I know of several people who have had conversions of their sleds done by Greg Bubb, and that conversion is done to a PRO II base on the bottom, and PRO II junction box on the top. I believe that the prices mentioned are accurate and that the modification is presently available. It was at least when I spoke with Greg several weeks ago.

Additionally, there are other 2" posts out there, made by Tiffen and by Chroisziel. George Paddock also offers an upgrade to his 1.5" post so that any vibration that existed can be eliminated, and you don't have to re-tool to a 2" system. So as I said earlier, there is more than one option, and each should be exlored fully before anyone decides to write a check.

I marvel at what is available out there at this point, and I remember the days when the only alternatives were CP and PRO. Equally I marvel at the amazing images that were made with

PRO I and 3 or 3A rigs. Yeah its a big market out there and the newer products are totally cool. I would love to own most of the gear out there, but when all is said and done, its not the cool gear that makes the shot, its the dedicated, devoted, and focused operator that makes the images come to life. Lets glorify and focus on those images and the process that gets us to those images more in this forum, and hawk gear a little less.

HI Guys!

I thought I'd just say, what a load of BOLLOX!

All I have ever known Howard to be, is a very experienced operator who just wanted to help both me and all you other operators around the world... with some original designs, making sure that he did'nt copy anybody!

In selling his own product he has also endorsed other peoples, right from day one!!!

If you've met him you should know that!

He's made sure that with the forthcoming A-R, it will integrate into the XCS , Pro and dare I say it MK-V ! sorry if that offends any of you, that think I"m endorsing any of these products, but if you know my kit you'll know that I own something from all of them!!

Everybodys product I have experienced, both have positives and negatives, some suit me, some don't...and I am sure that is the case with all the Ops on here!!

MK-V keeps developing and pushing the envelope because he listens and cares about making the job easier! Therefore Posts are in relation to new products (if they did'nt post, you would'nt know!!)

So, take a chill pill!!

All the Best...Chris McGuire

Oh lord. Original and innovative in all of its designs and concepts. Like the fact that the Steadicam Flyer came out and then-miraculously MK-V invented its own lightweight rig which is for all intents and purposes a Flyer?

Have you no manners at all? No grace or respect, no recognition or admittance of the facts of history? How thoroughly appalling of you to say such a thing to Mike, when the careful examination of your products and the dates of "invention" reveal otherwise in the extreme.

For shame, sir. For shame. The ability to machine a hunk of aluminum to 1/10,000ths of an inch ( or metric equivalent thereof ) doesn't make one a gentleman or a respectful member of the community. OR an inventor of truly original products.

It just means one can cut metal.

so what do you say Mr Abraham?

that no other company than tiffen should exist, and they are all cut metal workers?

Dont you think with all respect that this is a bit offending and inaccurate the list?

The flyer is just a nice little rig for the new needs of the new cams and production,

and nothing more nothing less.Very nice but not something increadibly innovating,

just a nice little rig.Why do you have to fight over something so much that to create so much bad vibes on the forum?

I have asked you once before does everyone has to drive one make of car?

And if not does he disrespect history?

I love to hear from anybody making steadicam stuff. That's this forum all about. I like to hear it from users and discuss about it. When it's only aloud to post tiffen stuff, than i am out of here. Nothing against them, just like to know about all brands and make my own choices.

Nice pics Eric, nothing wrong with that one

keep telling us whats going on , and stop bitching each other B)
