Premium Members AndySchwartz Posted January 27, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 27, 2005 Hey Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the green CRT from Steadicam. I just got the SK2 in the summer 04 and I had to send it in once because the CRT was dropping out, at least until i tapped the top of the case and it would come back. They returned it and it was fine, until yesterday and I was testing it out for a shoot next week and it did not come on again, until i gave the top a tap - harder than usual - and it came back. So I do not know what the deal is. I am storing it fine and have not bumped into anything. Any ideas. I guess I have to send it back again. Thanks Andy
George Grammatikos
hi i remember this problem some yeares before, when i was fly an sk , the monitor is off and you see a white horizontal line for a second ? when you take over the cover you will see a tranzistor with a figerator (an aluminum part) in the center off the monitor this piece make artct with the covr and switch off the monitor(specially when it is on for a long time) just push it litle down ,so to be sure it will never make junction with the cover again good luck (you will need ,if i remember good ,stars screw drivers for remove the cover )
Premium Members AndySchwartz Posted January 31, 2005 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted January 31, 2005 thanks george i had talked to mark karavite quick last week and he said something similar was going on way back on one of his early rigs. but yes, same kind of thing happening as you said. maybe the housing needs looking at by tiffen for redesign. so i called tiffen and asked and they said they did not know of anything. i decided to go ahead and send it in to them again to get it worked on. i figure if it happens again, i am going to try it myself but i thought it better to let tiffen check it one more time. thanks george and mark.
