Premium Members Matthew Fleischmann Posted September 9, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 9, 2011 Has anyone flown the Arri 435 on a Flyer LE system? I know that body only is around z14 pounds plus the magazine and lens will probably put it close if not over 19 pounds which is the maximum weight for my rig. I am just wondering if anyone has maxed out before and what their results were. Any comments would be appreciated.
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted September 9, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 9, 2011 The lens and a loaded mag will easily break 19lbs, another ~2lbs for a focus motor and receiver. And then you're at minimum set-up. Depending on the lens, could be more. If a zoom, could be 2-3 motors. How about a mattebox, filters? As someone (in)famous for maxing out a 2nd gen Flyer (15lb max) and having put an Arri LT on it (Only as a test, would never do it for a job - 23.5lbs at min set-up) the answer is: No.

Brent Johnson
For those curious about flying the 435 on the zephyr as well, I am doing some tests this week. I'll post about it soon.
Brent Johnson
Well, I put the 435 on the Zephyr and it's way to heavy. Bummer. Off to the 416 then.
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted November 18, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 Bummer dude. This is my shocked face. To reiterate: a 235 with 200' mag, prime lens, focus, clip-on matte box, video transmitter, will work great, only 35mm cam that will on that rig.
