Premium Members David M. Aronson Posted October 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 (edited) Who says only the players get hurt at a football game? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUfVmmidxcE I was running in fromt of the Wakefield players with a Flyer LE and a Canon 5D MkII and tripped. I landed on my shoulder and later learned that it was broken in several places. It hurts like a bitch. I didn't get to film the rest of the game. While I was in the ER, a player from this same game came in with a broken femur and was put in the hospital room across the hall from me. when we realized we had been at the same game, we started cracking up. It was really weird. It's a really cool shot to get, but don't try to get it!! When I got back from the ER, I took a look at the rig and the top stage was completely bent out of shape. The rest of it was fine and the camera was saved thanks to a weight cage. Edited October 2, 2011 by David Aronson

Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted October 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 It might have something to do with you running so oddly. I saw the split screen on your "reel" and you're moving strangely, don't do that
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted October 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Iyou're moving strangely, don't do that I consider running with a steadicam moving strangely...like Eric said, don't do that! vote for Pedro

Premium Members David M. Aronson Posted October 2, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Hmm. I never really looked at how I was running in that video. I don't normally walk like that but it was kind of at a weird speed. I had to be somewhere between a walk and a run and I that ended up being the compromise. The strange part was, I've ran with a steadicam (I'm now realizing how stupid that is) dozens of times before and I've gotten that same shot of running in front of the players 10 or more times and never had an issue. Remind me never to do that again... Also, who at Tiffen do I talk to about getting my sled repaired? The music is from Video copilot Proscores btw. They have great stock music. Premium Members Kevin Andrews SOC Posted October 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Ouch, glad you weren't hurt too badly. The shot probably would have been just fine walking at a swift pace. There wasn't any part of that shot that was usable while running anyway. Premium Members Michael Shu Posted October 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Ouch! That brings back memories of a very similar situation I had that motivated me to take the weeklong workshop. Sometimes it takes us a very humbling experience to know the dangers that will help us avoid getting even more hurt. I'm glad you're doing fine and had a good chuckle from it. Premium Members David M. Aronson Posted October 3, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 3, 2011 I had just done this shot and ran over to get the other team I was trying to get another one like this. The operating isn't great, I'm used to DVcams so I was overcontroling this a little.

Hi David, Sorry to read about your spill. Glad you are doing ok, other than your shoulder. Please give me a call or write me an email to discuss your sled. 818-567-7945 mcraigs@tiffen.com Thanks, Michael Craigs
