Premium Members Jessica Lopez Posted October 17, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks you guys! It's been 7 years since I did the On-Campus workshop with Peter Abraham back at the University of Toledo. Then in 2006 I was very fortunate to obtain a full-time job at Tiffen Steadicam in Glendale. Ever since then I knew I was going to be a Steadicam Operator. After so much including major knee surgery and the possibility of my dream being over, I was able to stay focused and not give up. This week I purchased a Steadicam EFP that has been kept in immaculate condition by Evan Barthelman (blue spring arm). It's a starter rig and I am already working towards building the kit to handle HD. I am so excited about the future. Tomorrow I start my first job as an Owner/Operator! I love how good that looks and sounds :) Thank you fellas! Most of you have been a big influence and of great help in my journey. I hope I can provide the same help and guidance that you have shown me. See you guys on the forum, at an event, or a Steadicam Guild gathering :)
Moderators Janice Arthur Posted October 17, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 Jessica; Boy that's a good resume. Wonderful news and I know you'll do well. Operating is great fun and the day to day, moment to moment, problem solving is really the thing that lights up your brain on every job. I wish you all the best. Good choice on the rig, use it for a year or two til you outgrow it, then get a better one. Just remember, and you've picked the hardest thing in the film business.
