Milos Kodemo
Hi all, would you consider IDX CamWave for live event. It was great as video assist on numerous HD shoots. Recently I've tried it in one television studio 50x50 meters, metal construction, lights etc.... full signal always. Now I'm considering to work with it on one live show instead of triax. does anyone have any experience with it on live events? thanks Milos Kodemo
Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted October 28, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 28, 2011 Here in Miami, whether inside a studio or outside I've only had problems with the camwave. Just my personal experience. In one studio anything further than 30ft and it was really bad. On a Job here with Charles, His Boxx Meridian worked great driving down the streets of Miami Beach. For anything live, I've never used anything better than the LINK SD-HD system. Model number L1500. Just my experience.
Milos Kodemo
I've been using LinkRes for two years now, L1500 for that matter, excellent .... but not mine, not for rental also. It is in an OB van of national broadcast TV here in Serbia. CamWave prove good so far, have not been using it for live for now, but an idea... Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted November 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 16, 2011 The CamWave while a nice affordable unit is in no way suitable for live work. I've used both the Boxx and am currently on a job with a CamWave and there is no comparison. Not to disparage the CamWave but it's not apples to apples. I've requested a Boxx to demo on a live show but it never worked out that they could get it to me. My question or thing I'd like to see are the paint and control functions they'll want from the truck. I've yet to witness or test that functionality. Premium Members Mike Marriage Posted November 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 16, 2011 I used a CamWave once for live but only in SD, which I think gives a more reliable signal (just in my experience I may add). On that occasion the producer took responsibility for the decision as I said it wasn't quite the right tool. However, the vision mixer said the image was rock solid all day. You obviously don't have camera control or comms.
Scott Walker
Just thought you might find these videos interesting Meridian is fast coming the standard for studio live in the UK because of the zero delay , so no lip sync problem.
