Premium Members Amando Crespo Posted November 11, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 11, 2011 After my accident with my pick-up, this is the first test to adapt a chair and car mount to my Jeep wrangler. I´ll post the result... (tomorrow I´ll work with Kevin Shwantz and others bike pilots in a closed circuit)

Premium Members James Davis Posted November 14, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 14, 2011 Looks really cool, but it looks to me like the hard-mount post needs to come forward a bit? It seems a bit too far back making the operating position look a little cramped to me, I know on the rickshaw I was on the other day the post was probably about 30-40cm ahead of the backrest of the seat and that was very comfortable for me, whereas your post/hard-mount looks to be in line with the back rest. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted November 14, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 14, 2011 Are you attaching your mount to where the spare attaches to the rear door? If so, don't!! It is not rated for more than a spare. I think the manual says 50 lbs (i know for legal reasons they probably understate the capacity but not by hundreds of pounds). I know guys with over-sized spares mounted there that have broken their doors with far less weight than you+the mount+a steadicam+the distance away from the rear gate. Just want you to live to be an old fart like me. If it is mounted in some other way please disregard. rb

The door inside is reinforced and the chair leans in the car. Two slings attached to the car structure helps. Thanks for your advice. Security is my first reason, I´ll be on the top and I love my life...   I tried it wit potatoes bags... Around 200kg and the system works safety. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted November 14, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 14, 2011 Cool, wanted to make sure you weren't just bolted to the three spare tire/hub bolts on the tail gate! I have seen these doors bowed and strikers bent on bumpy roads from 100 lb tires. I know the force and weight of a person and rig much farther out is many many times that. Glad you have taken percautions. rb

Jerry Phim
Question, when the police see you like that, will they usually pulls you over and ask for permits etc? I help out on a few test pilot shot and that is the 2nd thing I worried about. 1st is safety and 2nd pull over and ticketed.

Cinematic immunity has always worked for me (although it works a lot better when the cops are on the shoots payroll) ;-)
