bobstone
hello all i got a modulus 3000 with all wires, case and a power box for it, I want to sell it but i have no idea what it is worth ?? i know this is not usable in the states but I am living in japan right now, is it legal here and if so how much could i expect to sell it for ?? thanks for any input i have tried to research it online but i only find that it is for rental usaly 50 - 80 dollars a day, which leads me to belive it is worth quite a bit of cash. also if any one knows of someone in japan who might want to buy it please let me know also. main problem is i dont know how to test it to see if it works, it seems to power up fine in the states, but the power box for it was made for state voltags and does not seem to work in japan. any info would help a lot thanks bob stone
Premium Members Christopher T. Paul- SOC Posted February 9, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 9, 2005 Hey Bob, Your Modulus 3000 is pretty much the industry standard here in the States, and you should have no problem selling it in the classified section of this website, (which obviously has an international reach). As for pricing, check with the good folks at Abel CineTech in NYC @ http://www.abelcine.com to get an idea of what they go for new, and then take it from there. You should be able to get price quotes online if you email them via their site. You probably want to verify somehow that it is in fact still working before you sell it off to one of your pals in the community- as it tends to be a small world that operates on karma. Good luck! Mitch Gross
Since you can't tell if it really is functioning properly, I would say it's worth $500 max. But if you can take it to a camera rental house and get them to check it for you (hoork up a source and check on a receiver) then I'd bump that up to $1000 - $1200 assuming it is in very good condition. Premium Members Mark Karavite Posted February 10, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 Bob, I just bought a new Modulus 3000 for $1900, plus a hundred bucks per PRO cable x2. I'm not sure what the used market will bear, but it depends on it's condition. As far as checking it out, if you can feed it 12v through one of your cables, and feed it a video signal (via a camcorder is easy enough) you could transmit to a TV to verify that it is working. I'd have bought it from you used if it was a month ago. I'm sure you'll have no problem selling it quickly if it works well, for a fair price. Good luck.
