Premium Members Aaron King Posted November 18, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 I own the Digital Bartech with an M-One motor and was wondering if others have had this issue. The past two jobs I have been on, the 1st AC's pointed out to me that when turning the knob one direction the focus marks lined up, but when then going the opposite direction the marks where just slightly off. They both weren't concerned since it was just off by a fraction, but it concerned me. I myself hadn't noticed it before, but examining it closer it appeared there is a hair delay in one direction with the response time from turning the knob to the motor. Anyone else have this issue? I figured I would check with other owners before contacting Jim.

Premium Members Aaron King Posted November 18, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 One job I was using a RED 17-75 zoom, and the other job was a set of Zeiss Primes using the 18mm and 25mm.
Premium Members JimBartell Posted November 18, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 I can think of three possible causes: 1. Flexing in the matte box rods causing the motor to shift position. 2. Torque setting on the BDR is set too low. 3. Backlash in the gears in the transmitter Items one and two can be fixed in the field. Item three requires the unit to be sent in. The delay you are seeing on direction reversal was intentionally put in the software to prevent the unit "hunting". Once you reverse direction and you get past the delay the marks should be correct. Call me if you want to discuss this. Jim Bartell

Premium Members David Tenniswood Posted December 2, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 2, 2011 Hi Louis, The run/stop cable was a prototype made by PLC electronics in Vancouver. We've been working with them beta testing some new products on set. The run/stop cable for RED ONE and EPIC should be available on their website for order soon. http://plcelectronicsolutions.com/ Cheers,
