Shipping Case For Arm/Klassen Vest?

I'm in need of a new shipping case or cases for my arm and Klassen Vest.

 

I'm wondering what everybody has been using for these items. One case for both? When I had my front mounted vest I would ship the arm with the vest.

 

I prefer Pelican/Storm cases.

I always put my Klassen vest in a pelican 1650 (front door/carbon arm removed) and the arm/springs in a pelican 1600

I have both a Pro and Klassen vest. When I ship my gear for a show, my Pro vest and arm fit nicely into a Pelican 1650 case. The Pro arm goes inside a Modular 51 soft case, which is fitted into the middle of the vest.

 

I ship the Klassen vest in a Pelican 1640 case. The case is huge and quite heavy even before the vest is added, but it was the only Pelican case I could find that seemed to accommodate the Klassen vest without removing the low-profile arm. As it is, the vest rides nicely inside its Klassen leather bag, while keeping the low-profile arm intact.

 

It’s been a few months since I’ve had the vest in that case, but it seems like there would be room for a steadicam arm as well, but I’m not entirely sure.

 

I’m sure there are better options than the 1640, but I couldn’t find any when I was putting my Klassen vest package together a few years back. The 1640 has very large outside dimensions, and is very heavy. Seems a bit unwieldy just to carry a vest, but at the time, it seemed to be the best option. I’m sure other possibilities are out there now, but this one works if you have the room for it.

Hi James!!!! Seems like only hours since we last communicated.

I've shipped my Klassen in it's standard Klassen bag Fed ex, and checked on planes for the last 8 years without any incident. just a quick count 50+ flights. it shows wear but no damage to anything inside. just my experience...

Walter says you can ship in the provided bag. That always made me nervous but Osvaldo is living proof that it works just fine. If you want to go on the cheap, the bag/vest fits nicely inside a $25 Rubbermaid Action Packer.

obviously Ozzie and Doc don't have the same problems with drug sniffing K9's as Brooks and I do -- they do not require airtight shipping or use their vests as smoking jackets.

Here are a couple of pics on different trips...The vest bag from Klassen is great!. I even left it behind the car once and backed up, dragging it a couple of feet. scratched up the bag, the vest is fine. Of course if I were to have run over it I'm sure it would be toast, but the same vest bag is with me today.
