Questions about the EFP

So I'm still in the market for a rig and I have a few questions about the EFP.

1. I've only ever seen it with an AB battery mount. Does it only come with an AB mount?

2. Does anyone still make cables for the sled or am I SOL if I need a cable?

3. Is the vest comfortable? I know it won't be PRO quality, but is it good enough?

4. What's a good price for a used rig?

Hey David!

I just purchased my EFP a couple months ago. Honestly, it's my dream rig. I knew it was going to be my starter rig the day I put it on 5 years ago. I believe they are only AB mounts but you can get a adapter plate. Terry West can still make the cables. It won't be hard to modify for 24v or HD if need be. I love my EFP vest. Very comfortable. You have to an allen to adjust bridge plate height. Great starter rig.

Was told to watch out when setting it down fully loaded. I guess the bottom of the post where it connects can snap off the lower hanger from the pressure. I am currently looking into reinforcing it. But I make sure I always dock to be safe. I never set it down on anything or use my knee.

An EFP in excellent condition sold for less than $5,000 on ebay last year. So, it is remotely possible to pick up a bargain. See:

One thing to check out if evaluating an EFP for purchase is whether the arm is a red or blue spring arm. I think the red spring arm was rated for 26 pound camera payloads. The blue spring arm carries about 8 or 9 pounds more.

HI

Just a word of caution regards Ebay, be aware a clone sale of this bargain EFP keeps popping up now and again. IT IS A SCAM!

Be careful the original sale was genuine but beware on Ebay.

1)ASK questions that will trip up a seller who does not know what they have.

2)LOOK at what else they are selling. if the have loads of high value items going very cheap beware.

3)LOOK at what they have sold before have they a track record in this line of business sale (one stolen account sold baby clothes for 4 years then suddenly an EFP, motorbike, expensive stereo etc).

4)NEVER EVER buy outside ebay unless local and direct personal contact is available.

5)NEVER do a direct bank transfer or western union etc use paypal. If the seller says this in there sales listing run away. Using paypal you are protected by 1 Paypal and 2 your credit card (use your credit card not debit card with paypal) as this way the credit card insurance helps protect you too (this is uk based info I assume the same applies in the us etc)

5)EMAIL if the seller has listed a different contact email in the listing be carefull. They use this because to change your mail settings in Ebay a verification mail is sent to the old address, which will alert the seller of the stolen account details. So only use the ask seller a question link on Ebay, as it will only go to the genuine account holder.

Many Thanks and good luck.

Anthony

P.s. I Bought a used EFP for £4500 (not from Ebay)!
