Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted March 13, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 13, 2012 looks really interesting. I tried to do a similar thing with the director's monitor with the Brite View system that has been discussed here, but ran into issues as the camera was outputting a PSF signal, which neither the transmitter nor monitor liked.... Any thoughts on that? I have done a bit of research and it seems that HDMI in general does not like PSF. I'm going to try using it with a Decimator 2, and see if that will make things like the Epic work with it.

From what I have seen, it should work perfectly as long as your output to the Decimator is p or i, since (as far as I know) the decimator passes through the setting of the input signal. I have used the system with a decimator 2 with an EX1 SDI out and it worked perfectly. I know that the option isn't in the dip-switches for the decimator, but is it in the USB-based UI? I just recently bought a Decimator from Charles Papert, and I'll be testing that with the HDMI transmitter on various cameras. Hopefully, I'll be able to use this transmitter with more formats now. The director was really happy with it.
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted March 27, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 27, 2012 What's your set-up like?
Jarrett Morgan
What's your set-up like? The Briteview HD Air Sync, the one that has been discussed quite a bit in another one of the threads. I think that all of them use a similar (if not the same) wireless chip.
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted March 28, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 28, 2012 Some have an older chip in them that limit the range compared to the newer ones. The Brite-View AirSync HD has the new chip.

Mark Baluk
Has anyone used WHDI with the Epic? Did you have issues with the HDMI out?
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted December 3, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 3, 2012 You have to use a decimator to get WHDI to work with Epics. The Paralinx is even hit & Miss.
Premium Members Frederic Chamberland Posted December 4, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 4, 2012 Hi Alan, Make sure you have the latest firmware on the Epic (3.3.14) . Now the camera outputs to both connectors simultaneously (Hd-SDI & HDMI ) . This is a feature we were all waiting for . It's there now and it's great for devices like the paralinx. You plug it into the HDMI and forget about it. Tried the Paralinx on my Epic thru the HDMI and it's a perfect combo. Hope that helps. Cheers
Mark Baluk
I'm fairly certain the epic I was flying this weekend was 3.3.14 but I was having issues with the HDMI signal. Hmm. Not on a paralinx, but on a different WHDI device. Good to know though.
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted December 4, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 4, 2012 I've worked with enough Red cameras to know that what works for you one day won't necessarily work the next, and it even varies from camera to camera, no matter the firmware. I've just completely written the HDMI off on the Epic, and I always use a decimator for HDMI devices like the Paralinx because it just works. The Decimator has a loop through, so why not use it? Mark Baluk
Yea, I think that's the route I'll be taking from now on until I upgrade.
