Anybody shot with xl2 mini35 on flyer ?

Would the flyer hold an xl2 with mini35 adaptor and an avarage 35mm lens ?

just curious, might have to get a pro vid or similar if not.

Not...really. I tested the DVX100a/Mini35 combo with a Zeiss speed (lighter than the S4 shown in your picture) on the Flyer and it just maxed out the system, and the XL2 is about 1.5 lbs heavier, I believe. Obviously when flying you wouldn't carry the viewfinder and the studio follow focus either, but you would have to add the weight of your lens control system back in.

 

It could be done by adding a bit of bottom weight, but you would have to hold the arm up to level, and you are overtaxing the vest in the meantime.

Don't forget that with the XL-1/2 you will not be carrying any on the cameras original glass and also the P&S relay will be smaller as it does not have to cover the 72mm front end of the Panasonic. I have not had time to try it but would say it would come out somewhat lighter than the Panasonic combo.

Well, you can save a lot of weight, that picture is the "studio" setup.

 

Loose the mattebox, the follow focus and find another way to support the adaptor + lens.

Clip-on mattebox and one motor for focus will do.

No need for the camera viewfinder, normally.

 

Go to the rental house, see if they have a damaged baseplate (the long one) that i still usable for about 10 cm. Let them cut this part off, and use that to slide the dovetail plate + bars onto.

Safes a lot of weight.

I did this once, drilled many extra holes in it to reduce weight but it was damaged again in an accident.
