Youtube's little gems

Here's the thing about this video - the story behind it is even better!

I was contacted by this guy, out of the blue, on Facebook. He sent me that video, along with a long block of text explaining that he had bought this rig, and that it didn't work. I did my best to reply with as much constructive feedback as I could - as there were clearly some setup issues, on top of the whole "the rig is actually a piece of knockoff garbage" thing. Since he was local to me, I even offered to meet up somewhere with him and give him a few little lessons on operating.

I was met with impatience (asking where I was at that exact moment and if I could come to his house to help him  ), rambling messages about how "the steadycam is supposed to FLOAT the camera man!" and that he shouldn't have to "be playin' dick-dick with it", and a various assortment of other nonsense (Including racial slurs in status messages about the rig - seriously).

Eventually, I stopped responding. A bit later, I noticed that his video had gone viral, gotten posted all over the web, and laughs ensued from coast to coast.

The internet is a strange place, man.

I get infuriated, too when the shit I paid good money for requires me to set it up or to be "playin dick-dick" with before it works. Dick-dick is the worst. I'd hate to see this guy with a VCR+.

On many instances I have put the rig on other folks who are interested in it. I have had the following conversation

"Turn it on, it's not balancing", I said "It's on, just concentrate on the frame and try to keep it balanced". They say, "It's not working"

Oh Boy!
