Some should fail

Hi all;

Just a reminder, to the helpful bunch we are, some of these guys/gals who buy should fail.

They have to determine how much they want to succeed by the effort they put into it.

We should help some, as we all do, but then sit back and see what effort they are reciprocating.

This is the hardest thing in the film business and it takes a horrible amount of work all levels to rise to the top. Just because those who have worked there tails off make it look easy is no reason to make the newbies forget that.

We are so happy with our cool job that we want to help all those that aspire to the device; that has been the tradition since day one. Its so cool we want others to have the same experience. The shortcuts we/Tiffen/workshops provide is not an end.

At every workshop there is a guy/gal who is not the best in the class and maybe even the worst. Then six months later someone sees that person and darned it they aren't great. The transformation is amazing and all because they put in the time. The bellcurve explains everything, we're all in it somewhere. How much effort determines where you are in it.

I wish all who buy a great deal of heartfelt success and lord knows I've helped lots of newbies; but then I stand back and see if they're still around in six months or a year.

Maybe it was the weight; maybe it was the cost; maybe it was the marketing; maybe it was no patience? Who knows, who cares (kind of) but they should all not survive and that's a good thing. Their world has told them to move on and with any luck, truely only the best ones survive.

Those are really the ones we're hoping we're helping when everyone jumps in with an answer. We hope that we're helping the ones who will put in the time and effort and have the patience. Heck if they do hang around and survive they have great stories to tell of how hard it was to get here!!!
