Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted January 29, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 29, 2004 As CP went out of business three some years ago, it seems odd to me that the Non-CP category still exists. Since we have so many manufacturers of stabilizers out there, perhaps we should eliminate the category all together and keep things organized by the other topics, regardless of manufacturer. I emailed Tim Tyler about this, he suggested rightly that the users of the forum should decide what to do. Thoughts? Jerry
Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted January 29, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 29, 2004 This makes sense to me. Perhaps it should be replaced with "Vehicle Mount" since this seems to be a reoccurring category. Maybe a poll can be created?
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted January 29, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 29, 2004 Maybe change it to manufacturers specific topics in cluding all brands. And Jerry you have a point there... Discussions bases on a specific model... (like power out problems with a PRO, or monitor trouble on my Masters or the like...) If you have that model, brand, etc. you can just look it up and find compiled posts on that brand.... Problems and solutions... It also could cut down on repeat post over and over again about the same problems... I liked the fact that you could look up posts specific to a model or make. Too many post just disapear in the Genaral Discussion section... to never or just hard to be found... Just a thought...

PaulEdwards
Jerry, I agree that "Non CP" should go. How about three separate topics for "sleds", "arms" and "vests", so that all manufacturers of sled etc. appear under one topic? Paul
PatrickvanWeeren
Dear Jerry and other forum-users, I agree with the sled, vest arm section. Especially with the new "interchangable" features of the TIFFEN,PRO, ARTEMIS, MK-V etc. this might be a good way to find the correct forum-topic. I'd like to suggest a "LOW BUDGET STABILIZERS" section, for all the DV steadicams, the Argentine system, ABC etc. In this way the overview of the vest arm en sled sections will not be interrupted with equipment that is not "interchangable" or might I say "comparable". Kind regards, Patrick van Weeren
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted January 30, 2004 Moderators Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 How about three separate topics for "sleds", "arms" and "vests", so that all manufacturers of sled etc. appear under one topic? I'm for this too. Too many people making rigs now to give each one a category - all posts will just wind up in general discussion.
Mitch Gross
If we want Tim to address this we should put this into forum support. He doesn't troll his way through all the discussions as he's not a Steadicam Op himself.
Premium Members Guido Lux Posted January 31, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 31, 2004 Jerry! I'd say so to: nonCP must go! How about a monitor-category?! Just my 2 cents! Guido
PaulEdwards
Mitch, Good suggestion! I've just put a post in "Forum Support" to let Tim know about this "Non-CP etc" thread which Jerry started. Regards, Paul

I agree with this layout. It will keep it organized and simple to search for posts in the future, as well as know where to post in the present. Furthermore, as Guido mentioned, a Monitor section might be a wise idea as well. Just my $0.02 Canadian, :P Charles

It also could cut down on repeat post over and over again about the same problems... I'm for breaking down the different rig makers as opposed to just one section for all rigs. As Erwin says, makes it easier to reference... My nickel's worth(inflation). :)
Tim Tyler
I've added some new forums, and re-ordered the bunch. I removed the "Non CP" forum and moved the threads that were there into other forums. Everything look OK?
