No Eric, that's not true at all.

No one else shows up to say something then I'll keep defending my point alone.

I wasn't told there's bobbling. I discovered it myself. When I buy a car and it doesn't brake, I go back to the dealer and ask for replace or fix at its cost. That's it. And I'm sure you'll do the same Eric.

Not asking anything for free, I'm not asking anything at all. I'm just saying what is right and since it has been told that arm has got an ISSUE by Jerry Holway then I expect Tiffen to fix the problem. I recall what Mercedes did here in Europe with Class A model, in Sweden they did elk test (they have elks over there) and the car just flip, not for sale over there and around europe too. What Mercedes did? They just call back all the Class A sold all over europe and fixed them at their cost (an outrageous cost). Now I can understand that numbers involved for Mecedes and Tiffen are different but both are transnational company and here there's a problem previously addressed to operators when it was not. That was not fair. So now what? We wait for the dust to cover everything. Well, not me.

If nothing happens soon there's a full Archer kit for sale in a couple of weeks.

One that bobs a lot ? Good luck with your sale .... yours is now the most famous Archer in the world.

So? Every G50/G70 arm is now worthless without this expencive upgrade.

Never noticed anything of the sorts on my G70 (original 6th unit sold)

I am saying, now the words are out about the issue for "most" G arms, the value is lower on the second hand market. There is no doubt about that.

Good that your arm das'nt have the bounce

I did send out G50 to the UK for regular service. The arm is from 2006 so its almost antique according them <_<

We dont do the "bearing" upgrade, i just cant justify the costs for it.

We bought a second PRO, so this G50 is gonna be a backup or running rig or we sell it, not sure yet.

With all due respect for every opinion out there. I am dissapointed about the solution tiffen offers, its way to expensive. So i took the plunge for my collegue and invested in a second PRO.

Hi colleagues

I own two arms of a PRO is 9 and the other 4.years.

Never ever I had to change the bearings greased, no nothing.

I tried the products and can not be Tifen conparar with PRO, XCS or BEZT.

I decided on the arm of the PRO because it was similar or more and improved arm of 3A that I had for over 15 years.

But with a difference without cables or noise on the set.

Clean, quiet and very versatile.

With Tifen have more of the same, ie the light springs, cables and noise.

And what surprised me most when they left the arms G50 and G70 is that the owners had to lubricate parts of the arm to function well in a new product.

I operator for 17 years and member data of this forum for more than 10.

And many very inportant decisions in my professional life I have made reading the opinions of the companions of this forum.

The products we have not bought a RadioSark WaltMark or buy products worth as Ferraris or AstonMartin.

And as such we must treat the manufacturer.

Probably the cost is much higher for the owners of the G50 and G70 devalued those $ 2500/3000 for the upgrade.

Many of these owners may have lost customers for this fault in the manufacture of your arm.

Who fixes it?

The problem is more complex than it seems.

Tifen must demonstrate that it is a great company and that is assuming the mistake made.

And offering customers an upgrade without nungun cost of ownership.

That is the most disadvantaged in this process.

sincerely

I have owned both a G50 and a G70. I have NEVER lost a job because I fly Garrett Brown's Steadicam system.

I have up graded the bearings on my G70. I was happy with the arm before I did this and I am even happier now.

I am sure the PRO arm is GREAT. SO IS MY G70.

Alex:

Sometimes we agree to disagree here in the forum as each operator has their own needs, abilities, preferences and relationships with their vendors.

Products either perform to an individual's needs and skill set or they don't. As skills improve, job requirements / budgets increase and performance expectations change, we all ultimately have different needs to varying degrees.

In a perfect world we'd never buy a piece of gear that limits us in any way to do our jobs. But this isn't a perfect world and you can chase "perfect gear" to the end of the rainbow.

Consequently, Lisigav was invented to solve all of our problems and thus it's used liberally with any piece of gear from any manufacturer and any thread on the forum.

Well-put Robert. I rather enjoy these debates, since more often than not there's a good bit of information dug up on products that makes it easier for newer ops like me. I'm just avoiding getting involved, I never know which one of you I may be calling up needing a spare Preston some day ;)
