Premium Members Peter Milanov Posted April 24, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 24, 2012 I'll be shipping my G-70 arm to the US soon then. Shipping? It´s the perfect excuse for an L.A. vacation. 100% tax deductible ;)
Premium Members Matteo Quagliano Posted May 2, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 2, 2012 1000 dolla sounds good for me too... shipping back and forth to Glendale and leaving the arm away for at least 3 weeks sounds less good instead... do Tiffen offer a solution for us european ops as well? Premium Members Matteo Quagliano Posted May 2, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 2, 2012 Hi Amando, I'll love to have an LA holiday with you... but as for the arm I would like to have another option other then an holiday... a more affordable and serious one preferably... Premium Members Michael Hauer Posted May 3, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 3, 2012 Has anyone had the update done for the g50 yet? I'd be curious to hear feedback.
Premium Members Matteo Quagliano Posted May 4, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 4, 2012 Me too... I'm quite curious and I really would like to know how can we european ops deal with a 3/4 weeks stop for a bearings change, could it be done in UK or even better at Cartoni in Italy? Would be a great service from Tiffen and I think we deserve it. Let us know because otherwise I can't bear that long stop without a substitute. maqu
RobinThwaites
Hi Matteo As I have mentioned to you in our direct personal e-mails 1/yes you will feel an improvement 2/the arm needs to go to the factory because there is machining involved and 3/if you go that route you will get a 1 year back to base warranty from the date that it is done. Premium Members Matteo Quagliano Posted May 7, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 7, 2012 ok Robin, still remain the pain of a 4 weeks stop and a shipping that's gonna cost more then the repair, so bringing the final cost to something around 2000, here at Cartoni there's a very good guy (named Alessandro) who can for sure machine the arm, why don't you send me just the bearings and I'll take care of mounting them? thanks for your replying. I really would like to get that mail Sanjay and have a smile at my perfect slow walks with my new bearings.
RobinThwaites
No Matteo, it has to be at the factory. Robin
Premium Members Matteo Quagliano Posted May 9, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2012 ok, who do I have to get in contact with in Glendale? I'll have to solve import export issue with the speditioner and get a realistic quote, as soon as I'll have this infos I'll write here for other ops interested. thanks
Premium Members Thomas K. Jensen Posted May 9, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2012 You can let Tiffen UK handle it the import/export for you.
Premium Members James Davis Posted May 9, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2012 Indeed Robin has already offered to do this for me, but I am UK based so it's arguably a little easier. I think it's a pretty good deal and when my arm is due for a service I will definitely be taking him up on it. Yes it sucks to have the arm away for so long, but you are basically getting an almost all new arm in terms of performance for what is effectively the cost of a full service. I don't think we could ask for much of a better deal really.
Premium Members Matteo Quagliano Posted May 9, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2012 Deal is good for me too if I can ship my arm to Robin there in UK. Then I don't have to bother with import export and spedition but i just have to rent an arm for the jobs coming while my G50 is away. I'll contact Robin on that. Thanks James.
