Hi,

The upgrade cost the $1000 converted to ££s that Tiffen charge plus the shipping which I guess would be individual depending on where you live etc. I didn't need a replacement as I was booked on all non-steadicam jobs for the period that it was gone, hence why I chose to send it away then. Guess you need to speak to the guys at Tiffen International to see what they can do for you in your circumstances.

Would be still cool to know your total costs, if possible.

Someone offered me a used Archer 2S with the "old" G50...

Now i have my g70x arm after my ex g-70.. Hey guys listen "there are so many differences like east and west.. :) It's so beatiful.. Tiffen solved the problems, all problems which g-70 has .. Tiffen says "The smoothest, best performing durable arm ever built!" Yes it is without any alien wrench to prepare the arm.. It's the best, i think because of the boom range and simple use... Thank you TIFFEN.. You did at the end.. :)

Hi Richard,

The arm is only operator's personal choice like sled and vest.. And i don't like to use alien wrench to prepare my arm and canister also.. So i like Tiffen's arm.. But you know G-70 arm has a problem at superslow walking.. "My only problem with G-70". But Tiffen solved this problem.. Maybe they slogan is about only Tiffen's arms.. I don't like the new ultra 2 sled also.. I like my betz rig hd sled.. There are a lot of operators at the market who say Walter Klassen is the best. I don't like back mounted vest also.. I like the old ultra and master vest.

So the equipments are operator's personal choice only..

Best

I know this is a old topic and most of the focus has moved on to other things on the Forum but I just wanted to comment on the G-50 upgrade by Tiffen.

I bought my arm new back in 2006 with my Archer 1 package. I won't go into the pros and cons of the arm since that's been done in much detail in the previous posts. The main thing i'd like to say is that I'm very happy with the upgrade. I don't have the cash for a new arm but the upgrade is as close as it comes for me. It tunes better, feels better and the Geo feature works better as well.

If you have a G-50 now ,and your not sure about sending in for the upgrade or buy a new cart this Christmas , snap out of it.

I don't work for Tiffen and Never have. Derek in Glendale was clear about the schedule and timeline. They did a great job.

Hello there,

own an old archer and did a job with it with an Alexa+ a few days ago. DP told me it would have be much of backwards running but have to do one "dolly simulating" shout witch nearly screwed me up cause of doing it slower and I know about this seeing the steps issues and so always speeding up to get it in the flow. Half a year ago a friend of mine was searching for a new rig and he ended up with a Sachtler Rig and he tested my G50 arm and bought one. Tested his Rig and Arm cause of balancing the Alexa+ with two servos and was surprised that his arm was much stiffer than mine. He got the none rusting screws witch was topic years ago but it was so much more worse than mine that I did the job with my rig. Can´t swap the arms because of different diameter. Began operating with the 3a arm know the PRO and the Sachtler arm.

So my question is get it with the upgrade now close or equal to the PRO.

The 3a gets better with more load you have the G arms best in mid weight range I think.

Does anyone know where to get the Ted Churchill Monitor bracket for the small diameter or does someone has to sell one?

Greetings Marc
