Hi Montay.

I assume that you have tried to talk to who ever sold you the rig, and he/she is not willing to refund some for the repair?

I myself wouldn't try to change something like that in my own arm. Not saying, that you can't do it, but I see my gear as a car. If it's broken i send it to the autoshop, so they can have a look at it. If it's lubrication and other small things, I do it myself, but don't like to experiment with the thing I use for a living. (or drive around with my family in)

I would give tiffen US a call, and ask them for a quote and maybe also Luna.

thx for your reply Thomas :)

i know that the best choice for me is to service it in tiffen or send it to someone like luna but currently i don't have them money for this ,, and i have to fly it .. am still training and i have to train myself everyday .. but today i took a look after i unscrewed the aluminum cover and it seemed that i can assemble all the three springs .. with an alen key .. i know its not easy and am trying to reduce the importance of the service or the ppl who is doing it , but i think i can fix it .. but in all the form i couldn't find a reference or a catalog for the parts names in the arm .. i just need some tips about the assembly , from what i saw in the arm i looks like you can assemble the springs with no tools and what left and its the most important part is controlling the tension of the springs by tightening or loosing the screw located inside the last spring .

am i right with that ?

Take a look at The Steadyrig site.

http://www.steadyrig.com/prod_Arms.html

I know nothing about the masters series arm, but Hugo designed his spring ends to be user serviceable and easily dismantled for field fixes...not so with the cp/tiffen arms so be careful!

thanks for your advice Ron .. i was comparing the two models .. the only deference between the shape of the two springs is just the spring ends .. the silver spring is designed in a way that the cables doesn't get twisted .. but they are both replaceable without the need for complected procedures .. thats is just an eye judgment .. am waiting for more info's and tips from you guys

cheers

Monty,

I'd personally opt to send the arm to Robert Luna. He is less expensive than most options and does fabulous work. It should cost less than $3K for a complete overhaul (bearings, etc.- the arm will fee new). Obviously, get a quote from him and don't take my word.

That said, if you insist on doing it yourself, contact Robert anyway and ask for advice. He is very giving. I do know, never touch the springs with a metal object as a slight nick can cause failure down the line.

I have changed my master arm springs in the past, but without the right tools to sustain the pressure and adjust the screw can hurt and damage other parts of the arm to send to Robert luna
