2700 upgraded to 2702 -- issues???

Picked up an Anton Bauer 2700 charger for what appears to be a steal on FleaBay. It was advertised as a 2702 with the Discharge Module but when it showed up it did not have that feature. The seller was nice enough to refund the cost of upgrading to the Discharge Module.

 

Long story short, I installed the Discharge Module but it seems like I have none of the options available to me outside of the 24hr test and the standard discharge test.

 

According to the manual I should be able to see each digital batteries model number, serial, charge and discharge cycles, etc..

 

I'm getting nada.

 

I'm using Anton Bauer Dionic 90's and also Dionic HC's. These batteries do claim to be digital on the AB website, so I'm at a loss for why I am unable to attain the above info from these batteries on this charger.

 

Any ideas on what's going on here? Are the 90's/HC's just not built with the capacity to transmit internal data to the 2702?

Did you upgrade the firmware eprom?

 

and FYI any AB Battery with a realtime digital display is an "Interactive" battery and will talk with a suitably equipped charger

I believe I have 2700 chargers and on those if you hold down the display button for a few seconds it will give you battery info. Also I think I had to replace the chip inside when I switched to Dionic batteries.

FYI the latest firmware is 5.4. I'm not sure when the Dionic HC support was added, I think it may have been with 5.1. Not sure when standard Dionics were added to the firmware.

The model # should appear without holding the display button down, you do have to tap it to see each battery's info, otherwise you just see whether the battery is ready, charging, or waiting to charge. The additional info you get from holding display is the serial #, cycles, and full capacity of the batt (even if it is not fully charged). And the type of charge cycle being used on the battery I think.

Yup, you're all correct and I ended up shipping the charger back to the seller, as it was completely falsely advertised and was actually a 2401 charger.

 

Seller ate all of the expense, including the restock fee by Anton Bauer on the DDS, and I found a legit (hopefully) 2702 from Adorama.
