Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted March 16, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 16, 2005 It´s probably a DV cam in an underwater housing, but what´s also interesting is that he seems to operate from its little screen and not from the big one down there. As to running off the little LCD on the camera - blech. I've been stuck operating goofy for a few weeks now - LCD went down and haven't been able to get a new one yet. Driving me NUTS. Dale Henderson
Gday Guys, Sorry not to keep every one up to date with the water steadicam. I have been flat out like a lizard drinking with work and all, and i have not had a chance to sit down and give you a run down on this topic! Yes about the monitor, I had a small problem on the test day with my LCD so luckily for me i was able to use the small LCD screen that was on the camera. The day was a full test day with a DVCam camera, and we are now about to shoot one of Australias top ranked surfers at the end of the Bells Beach Australia WSP Comp with a new Seadoo and also the new Sony HDZ1 camera. We have tested the HDZ1 and as i shoot with Digi Beta and HD, the pictures out of the HDZ1 are equivelant to the Digi Beta, so we will surely get some great shots alongside our surfers in the waves. As for the big willy, I dont think i should brag about that one, but i think i have big balls to do what we are about to do! Going backwards, in up to 50ft waves filming surfers with a steadicam!!! Big Balls or Adrennalin Fix eighter way it will all be worth it! Cheers, Dale Henderson.

Premium Members Hugo_Langer Posted March 26, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 26, 2005 Isn't that interesting. I remember an article dating back about 20-odd years ago an American Cinematographer journalist at the CP stand at Cine Gear asking Ed DiGiulio if Steadicam works underwater. Cheers, Dale Henderson. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry to post of topic but one thing that has bugged me about the hdz1 the lack of info regarding colour sampling. Does the hdz1 suffer from the same 4:2:2 comprestion as dv ? and their for could never reach digi beta quality ? cheers Matt.
Dale Henderson
Gday Guys, Here is the second stage of our steadicam water madness. All went well on the day and the new seadoo also was more stable and suitable for our adventures. I will keep everyone posted on the outcome!
