Premium Members Charles Papert Posted January 30, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 This is a Pelican 1660, the Big Daddy Pelican. Similar dimensions as a 1650 but about 6" deeper. Good for a vest/arm case or for large accessories or just stuffing a lot of crap into. I bought it last fall and then changed my mind about my case configuration, so it's sat in the box since. Never used, foam intact; it's a brand new case. The best price for it is at Cases4Less, where they want $239.50, but they are in San Diego and you don't want to know the shipping prices. Filmtools has it for $288. I'm looking for $230, with pick up in Los Feliz. If no-one in LA wants it, I'll look at out-of-town offers but I'm not sure it would be worth it for either party with the shipping cost and hassle. Premium Members Charles Papert Posted March 22, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 22, 2004 This case is still available, and still brand new in the box. It's just taking up room and I wanna get rid of it. Someone make an offer on the damn thing. Such a nice case. Come get it the *@# out of my garage! Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted March 22, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 22, 2004 Ahh, Charles, too bad you didn't put this thing up for sale a few weeks ago. I just bought one for my shoot in Venezuela. They only allow a total of 5 cases on the plane and I have six, so I had to consolidate. I bought the 1660 for my DSD vest and all the cables and other AKS. I paid $275 plus tax at Coffey Sound by Universal. $230 is a good price then. Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted March 22, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 22, 2004 Oh shoot. You did have it available before I left for Venezuela and before I went to Coffey Sound and bought one. sorry. If anyone else is considering, I'll say this. The thing is huge, but if you have the room in a closet to keep it. It WILL come in handy should you need to travel and consolidate a few things. And it DOES fit the DSD vest. Personally, I wouldn't ship or travel with the vest in the leather bag as it will get destroyed. This case IS the case to get to put the vest it and have extra room for knick knacks, rain gear, tool kit, extra cloths, etc when traveling.
