Premium Members Stefan von Bjorn Posted February 26, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 26, 2005 Hello out there, I'm in a bit of a fix as my XCS Digital Level is failing ( I have distortion and black lines on my monitor.)I have eliminated the monitor and sled as the possible source. Does anyone know how I can phone XCS and have Greg get me a replacement? His number in Atlanta is a no go. Also I must admit to being a terrible owner, as I have no 8 pin to 8 pin cable to by-pass my digital level, it just shows me that I can never stop having two of everything, even if I have never had a problem with my $15,000.00 monitor and level before. I have a pro and a TB 6 monitor. Is there a kind person out here in LA that can help me out and sell me, or lend me this cable this weekend, as I begin shooting Monday morning 5 am. PaulEdwards
Stefan, I guess that your problem is more serious but there is a reset procedure for the PDL which I got from Greg, which might just help. 1. Turn off all power 2. Press and hold down the ?UP? button 3. Continue holding the ?UP? button and power up the unit. Make sure that a video signal is present on power up. 4. Continue holding the ?UP? button for 15 seconds 5. The unit is now reset to the factory settings NB. For the resetting to work, there must be a video signal present on power up. Good luck. Premium Members Stefan von Bjorn Posted February 26, 2005 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 26, 2005 Thank you Paul and Charles, it's great to know that guys like you are here on the Forum to help out a fellow. I got hold of Greg Bubb and he was so helpful I just want to sing his praise here. It turned out that the video tap was not sending out a strong enough signal so my PDL was losing sync. Greg walked me through this issue on his Saturday and is now talking the camera rental house tech trough the fix. If any of you ever encounter this anomolly know that it is often due to color the video taps lack of signal strength, just switch the tap to black and white mode and it should temp fix the issue till you can replace the tap. Greg you are class act and a true professional thanks again for everything. One happy customer, Stefan von Bjorn

Bartell <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NO WAY are you getting away without telling a bit more to this story. Planning a "Girls of the camera stabilizers" spread? "Miss 2-inch post"? A specially balanced rig using a pair of silicon-filled pouches? Okay, it's late and they're getting a little thin here, but you gotta share! Premium Members JimBartell Posted February 27, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 Scott Petitclerc, a 1AC and BFD owner, wanted a demo of the M-One and figured that using the exotic location of the Playboy Mansion he could entice me out of my garage. And right he was. They were shooting an episode of "Entourage", a HBO series about a young movie star and his buddies' experiences in Hollywood. A tent had been erected over the pool/grotto area and stocked with 75 hotties in lingerie/bikinis and 40 young studs in pajamas to simulate a party. One girl was wearing nothing but tiger stripe body paint (It was necessary to the plot. No, really). The were using a hand-held camera and a Steadicam for a "follow the actors through the crowd" shot. My client was on the hand-held but I immediately spotted Greg Bubb as the Steadicam Op. I walked over to talk with him and noticed he was sweating rivers. I guess it was hot in that tent.... Anyway, I hung out until I caged a free lunch and did my demo and then had to split to avoid rush hour. No Hef sightings, but he was supposed to make an appearance later. I did spot such LA party animals as Pauly Shore and Danny Masterson salted through the crowd to add a touch of "reality".... And that was it. No biggie really, but it is interesting to watch peoples reactions when you say "Well, when I was at the Playboy Mansion......". I actually saw much more nudity on the set of "Soulkeeper", the first feature to ever use the BFD, but that's another story. FYI, a picture of Scott and his charming 2AC Taryn Freitas can be seen on my website with some steadicam guy. Jim "Well, when I was at the Playboy Mansion...."
