Premium Members Imran Naqvi Posted February 27, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 Hi Been asked to shoot a day on a new half hour drama, that the company is hoping to sell. I've searched the forum but no joy. They're shooting on a Sony PD150. Yes really. I know. Simple question, is there a remote follow focus for use with this camera, or is it just a matter of sitting at the wide end of the lens? Or do we set focus for each shot and use the depth of field to cover for blown marks (actors or mine)?
xddj
Hi there, There are wire focus controlers for sure, but they are higly unprofesional. This is due to the fact that PD150 is useing fly-by-wire focus and zoom control. So you can not set a position for specific distace on the scale, you just have to adjust it "on hunch" :( Here you have the links: Manfrotto Zoe

When my point of contact started talking to me about autofocus I said I was busy.
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted March 3, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 3, 2005 Imran, I wouldn´t have passed on it. If they want to shoot Autofocus, they can get it as they like. If things don´t work, just say "autofocus" with a :) And many times you are able to arrange your shot so that you can use autofocus or just a fixed setting. What I mean is, that DV and it´s camera types WILL take over a certain part of the market, so WE have to adjust to that. Just my thoughts

I should add that it was going to be a freebie, so for it to be worth my time it has to offer something for me. Also they had trouble grasping the concept of follow focus. Maybe my diary will suddenly open up again. Going to sleep on it.
